Who has the new season excitement?

I've played twice around my 9 hole course this year (2011) and my scores are getting pretty consistent over my last 3 rounds.

I just hope 2011 keeps being kind to me and I'll be looking at a cut on my handicap.

i have it bad, very bad.

just bought new mx200irons before christmas, new MD superstrong driver 3 and 5 woods since christmas and been at the range most days at lunch/instead of lunch!

really looking forward to getting a few lessons under my belt and starting to push on with my game this year.

this is my first pre-golf season excitement for me and it feels good.

hope i dont disappoint myself too much this year.

Phil

I have it that bad I was going to save my new motocaddy s3 till the captians drive-in in march, but I thought if that's the first time I use it then it may affect my game! ( a good excuse!) So I used it last Saturday and intent on using it for the forseeable ! Can't wait for the winter stableford on sat!
Also the fact golf is back on tv aswell is awesome!

I played on Sunday for the 1st time since November. Been itching to get out so you can imagine my disappointment when I woke up and everything was frozen! Since my course is public and has a no temp greens guarantee we played anyway on the full course. Putting and chipping were a bit of a lottery but my new Taylormade R9 driver performed admirably and I hit 10 out of 13 fairways, right down the middle too.

All in all I hit the ball really well and ended up with a net 75 which was good enough for 5th place. Another plus was the scores were so bad it was reductions only so I didn't go up.

I'm really surprised how well I played and now well and truly got the bug back.

Weather permitting I'm having a knock with Homer on Saturday, can't believe it's only Monday - bloody work :D

Had a look through our fixture list this week and matched it up with this years shifts. Doesnt look good for many comps this year. Only get to play in one medal and a couple of stablefords :(

Do get to play in 3 or 4 of the honours board comps as well but looks like there wont be much movement on my h/c this year. Have managed to fit a couple of 36 hole Opens in though and a couple of forum meets.

Gonna see if I can get out and about plenty to different clubs or i'm gonna get bored rigid this year. Anyone within an hour or two of Norwich fancy having me over for a knock or an invitation day ???

I cannot get motivated / excited one bit!!

I played yesterday at Abergele on the North Wales coast.

The course was in fantastic condition, proper tees, dry fairways and fast true greens.

I scored 33 points with 2 blobs off my handicap of 9,a half decent knock on a course I had never played before but I just cannot get the juices going for golf at the mo :D

I was getting a bit stale by the time the snow came, but the enforced lay off gave me chance to get a couple of lessons and spend time at the range. I've been hitting 600 to 1000 balls a week at the range and I feel my swing is much more consistant now, I'm certainly more confident stood over the ball.

Our course has been measured for the temp greens and can remain qualifying year round normally, however, this winter there are major repairs ongoing on the 7th so it has been and remains non-qualifying.

New season excitement? - I'm gagging for it!! :D

JD our course isn't the prettiest right now and you'll probably chew it up but you are always welcome. Avoid the first weekend in the Month (medals) and let me know when you fancy popping down! I'll let you know if we have any Opens etc...

Anyone else in the area fancy it?

In relation to the OP yes very excited especially because I have two months to go. Things are starting to improve and I'm hoping that a few more comps and I'll be playing much, much better! Only wish I had the cash for a driver :(

I've done some work on my driving and mid range pitching at the end of last year and into the winter. I feel as though they are a big improvement on the last few seasons so I am really looking forward to the new season with some optimism.

Still don't class the season as started until I've watched The Masters on TV.
