I think some miserable old folks on here have it got it twisted.

I’m simply trying to understand what the data means. People have mistaken this and painted some sort of picture of me where they think I’m just sat at a screen analysing the numbers numbers 24/7 like some sort of weirdo coupled with the idea that i spend more time doing this than playing golf ?.

but the irony of that is it couldn’t be further from the truth. I’ll easily churn out over 100 rounds this summer.

I honestly don't think that's the case mate. I think they're trying to give you good advice - in exactly the same way as those who are taking to you about the data.

I'm fairly sure you've said on another thread that you've not been onto a course yet? Whether it's correct or not, you are giving the impression that you're trying to achieve the perfect game on paper, which is a road to nowhere and won't necessarily translate to good scores.

Learning about the data is one thing, trying to perfect things from a mat and a data set is very different, some of your posts/threads make it appear as if you're trying to achieve the latter, and golf's just not like that. The biggesr variable will be your own inconsistencies - just look at your PW and 9i data above. Until you're hitting consistently on the course, much of the data you're interested in is really quite meaningless I'm afraid.

From what I've read, everyone is just trying to help, based on their opinions and experiences. Don't knock it just because they view how to learn the game differently. ?

Nice one.

The last round I had was last Saturday right before my lesson.

Since then it’s just not been possible for me to get out where I’ve spent a week on here learning about what those numbers have given me.

I don’t plan on being scratch or whatever but what I do plan on doing is gaining an advantage over the rest of the field with the feedback I’ve received off the data.

Absolutely buzzing my nuts off for my first tourney next weekend and the past week on here has certainly filled me with confidence in regards to simple things such as club selection ?

In no way is this disrespectful but just how many threads does the OP need to scrutinise his game? Being new to the game should be all about enjoyment, company, a laugh with the guys.

Dustin wasn’t this obsessed with data when he was world number 1?

Going on like I don’t enjoy it now ?

Jeez

Not at all but for someone who has only just taken it up your seem obsessed with information you don’t actually under stand or generally need to know. I’ve been down that route personally and it’s a slippery slope of no return.

You have a pro you are working with so either trust him or change him.

Hit it, find it, hit it again.

Of course it's disrespectful, as ever the forum old guard is doing its thing.

Each to their own. Some people like knowing their numbers some don’t care. He was asking people’s opinions on gaps between clubs ect. Personally I wouldn’t be happy about the inconsistencies there, but I’m also not a fan of equal length iron shafts and strong lofts. Blame Bryson for that. To me I,d rather be the one looking to improve and become a better golfer. To the op good luck at the weekend.

Cheers for the positive comments lads.

There’s definitely a mixed bag here not just within this forum but in the golf community as a whole it seems. It’s the reason it’s took me a a good while to find a club that really suits me and I must say a couple of places I visited were so ‘clicky’ and not welcoming one bit. Not to stereotype but they were mainly of an older generation ?

No issue with multiple threads.

I’d be slightly worried about the inconsistency. With your power I’m not sure you need help. I’d probably ditch the one length and rocket faces.

Fwiw: I ordered a set of p790’s. Went and got fitted the day they arrived just to check.

190 carry 7 iron spinning at 3.5k. Would have killed my game. So they were returned. And p770’s with a much more useful flight ordered instead

Head covers on your irons or a trolley will sort that out. ;)

Ha whatever people want to do with their kit has no dramas with me.

So glad I joined the place I did. It’s part of a hotel so it’s very lively. They’ve just invested in a 24 foot big screen which has this week been set up outside ready for all the big events this summer.

Absolutely zero snobbery just good beer and laughs.

Right up my street

People get enjoyment from golf in different ways? I enjoy the data, love early mornings on the course on my own but also enjoy a pint and bacon butty after a round with PPs.

I tend to obsess over things when I first get hooked on hobbies - they can quickly take over my every waking thought

Sound like Mr Bambardele is just gorging himself on information whilst not playing proper golf, nowt wrong with that.

Now then, get out and play some proper bloody golf :ROFLMAO: Then start obsessing over the mental aspect of it when you have a scorecard in your hands.....

Someone learning about golf whilst not playing golf

or

Someone moaning about someone who is learning about golf while also not playing golf themselves
