In the winter it's mid range stuff like Chromesofts, Tour Response and the like
Other times it's ProVs or TP5s of either standard or X version
If I find a Snell/Vice etc and it's the premium version then that'll go in the bag.
#1 ball for me most of the time is the Mizuno RB Tour...virtually the same as a ProV1 but I got them for 30 quid a dozen....
Chrome soft are premium balls.

For the first time ever I bought the Titleist 4 for 3 offer at the start of last season. Got 4 dozen Pro V1x Left Dash and somehow still have 2 dozen left. Also have a dozen Pro V1's from when I took out the club pro's 4 for 3 offer on lessons with a dozen Pro V1's thrown in.

Don't know if it was the change of ball to the left dash or the change of course to a links but I lose way less balls and my handicap dropped 2.6 shots this season.
Are you a bomber?
I’m not, tried the left dash and I didn’t like it all.
Not a fan of pro v1x, much prefer the regular pro v1. Too much spin with the x for me.

Our pro has just put a Facebook post out saying he has been fitted for the new all singing all dancing 2025 ProV1. He has changed from the Pro V1x. Ave told him I will do him a favour and get rid of his old rubbish ones by losing them on the course.
Not heard owt back from him yet.
That said, if folk are prepared to spend £550 for a new driver to hit it 8 yds further. Would it not be cheaper to just upgrade to a ball that will do that 🤔

The YouTube videos that I've watched say virtually no difference between the new ball and the previous one but the 'ambassadors' have to say it's much better.

Most balls go the same distance pretty much. The real variance comes down to strike. As long you don't go super cheap

No, I’m the shortest in our group. 😂

On Trackman on Friday my driver clubhead speed was around 103mph.

The few seasons before I had played a softer urethane ball but just thought I’d give the left dash a go this season. Felt like a brick at first but got used to it.

A lot of talk about left dash, what is it?
It's like how the ProV1x used to be before 2017, it flies higher and has less spin. In 2017 Titleist changed the balls around where the V1x became the higher spin, higher launch ball and the V1 became the lower launch lower spin ball.

So the theory with the left dash is that you have a higher compression ball that launches high and spins low so should go farther off the tee, especially if you have a high swing speed.

Sometimes I'll use a left dash into the wind on our longer holes....surprising how much further they go than spinnier balls into the wind..

It's all relative - even the lowest spinning premium ball spins more than a budget ball. My 11 handicap mate uses the worst balls he can, pretty much, in a deliberate effort to keep spin as low as physically possible. His favourite at the moment is the Wilson Ultra 500. I don't even know where he gets them from, Amazon I think. 😄

Congratulations for dropping 2.6 shots - that's a great achievement (y)

I would guess that your improvement has nothing to do with the change of ball (unless you previously played top flites) and almost everything to do with you improving your game (give yourself some credit :)) or moving to a course which suits your game much more. Well done.

Was at a driver fitting maybe 10 years ago, my spin was high at the time. The pro doing the fitting pretty much said the same thing, instead of spending big money on a low spin shaft he said to try out a lower spin ball. Used the Srixon XV for a while after that and it made a big difference alright, gained a few yards.

Although I've ticked "what ever you find", I do have some standards :ROFLMAO:

I read somewhere once that there was only about 7 yards difference over the range of Titlist balls - tested using a driving machine and 100 + mph swing. With a swing speed considerably less that that and a somewhat inconsistent strike, I acknowledge that I am most unlikely to appreciate the nuances of different makes/brands/models balls. A yard or two difference on a shot will be down to a better strike or better bounce than the ball I'm using. I accept for the better golfer, ball choice could possible help but for the mid/high h/cap - self delusion?

It has to be said that the majority of balls that I, and my like minded friends, pick up are "premium" balls (as an example I currently have nearly 100 ProV1's of various iterations in top condition among my collection). Now, these have either been lost by low h/cappers having a bad day, or by the rest of the field who have bought into the marketing that somehow paying a stupid amount of money for a golf ball will improve their game.

Not knocking it though. Keep buying, and losing them. We'll find and reuse them for you. (y)
