Wooden or plastic tower?

Plastic. They don't break and I don't tend to lose them. I bought a pack a couple of years ago, still got loads left.

I was told the same thing regarding tee flight, many moons ago.

In the old days I do recall that some of my good shots resulted in the tee going backwards, and I was always happy to find it behind me. These days though, a good shot usually results in the tee staying put.

My tees only break when I don’t hit up on the ball, which is quite often of late as I’m mostly duck hooking it….

This^^^ back in the day when I only used bendy plastic tees that I probably didn’t push too far into the ground - and maybe that’s the answer to why they seemed to ping backwards - if I just caught the top of the tee as I might think I should, it would bend and recoil against the ground, and that recoil would send it backwards.

These days my tees generally go forward and I look carefully to where it has ended up as I take that position as being indicative of the direction of my clubface when it hit the tee.

Yes. There are tees lying around everywhere. I’ve never bought a tee in my life. I find more than I lose.

What's wrong with a pile of sand anyway?

Obvious point, but where did you go to get fitted for your sand? Etc etc
