when is a cheat not a cheat???

if i decide to use a leather wedge from the rough i'm a cheat,if i take drugs and win a gold medal i'm a cheat,if i am Chinese and smash the swimming record i'm accused of being a cheat but if i'm a British cyclist and decide to deliberately fall off my bike because i have made a bad start i get a medal and given praise across the land as the great jimmy greaves used to say FUNNY OLD GAME!!!!

A leather wedge is outside the rules so therefore cheating. Regarding the Badminton much tougher call as its more down to the organisers setting the competition rounds up in a way that gives the players losing better advantage
