This year in a team match I was all square after 6 holes after 6 straight pars. Got to a 180 par 3, my opp hit the greenside bunker. Sensing my chance, i was thinking easy 5i middle of the green. Instead I hit the biggest shank I have hit in my life, which luckily made its way through the tree's in the rough on the next hole. I had 100 yards in, 52 wedge, almost holed it and left a tap in.

My opponent never got up and down and I walked to the next tee 1up :)

Playing a match at Ferndown, playing the third. I was behind the trees to the right of the green.
I thought hit a lob wedge hope it clears the trees and gets somewhere near the green.

Absolutely nailed it, sailed over the green OOB's to only a tree square on and bounce back onto the edge of the green. I holed my putt to go 3 up. Think I won the first 4 that day and had to win the last for a half :p

Not a single worst shot but I was playing in a 4BBB club match about 3 years ago, par 5, two duffs and shank left me about 60 yards away from the green. Pitched in for birdie and won the hole. Off a 19 handicap so you can imagine how colourful the rest of the match was. :D

Not the worst shot but best outcome from a poor strike.

Nailed a driver right out of the toe on the 10th at The Belfry earlier this year. Fired off to the right like a rocket, clipped a tree, ricocheted off the bank at the bank and ran past the hole to 15 feet.

I then had the cheek to lip out the eagle putt.

Still a memorable birdie.

Thinned a pitch shot to our par-5 9th hole which hit the pin halfway up and dropped into the hole for an eagle. It would have been off the back of the green otherwise! :)

Thinned a wedge on the 18th at Morpeth. It went like a rocket, through the green, heading to the road. It hit the post part of a road signpost 3/4 of the way up, on the civvy side of the boundary, and bounced back onto the green. I halved the hole, despite laughing so much I could barely stand still to putt. My pp was bitter for a very long time about that.

I've got away with a few, lucky bounces from trees etc, but my favourite worst shot was a 150ish par 3 about 2 years ago - terrible shot, thinned it full swing, ball 'skimmed ' along the grass with 4 / 5 bounces, into the bunker at a nice angle at pace and rolled up the far side (like a skateboarder on a halfpipe) so it popped in the air and landed gently on the green to roll close to the bin. Worst birdie ever, my first on that hole, but sure there are no pictures on the scorecard.

Have witnessed a couple of real peaches too, both a bit hosely

one guy hit half sherman tee shot on a short par 3, it hitting a tree OOB and bouncing back on the green and going in for a hole in one.

The other was in a match against RD, oppo, duffed his tee shot on the 8th, knobbed his 2nd down the hill. then shermaned the 3rd it hit the back of a bunker bounced of the back of the rightside greenside bunker and went in for a net 2 and won the hole..:(

I don't hit bad shots (...:smirk:..) but my playing partner does.
There is a short par 3 at Gainsborough where the green is surrounded by a large pond and you have to carry it the entire way (120yards). I hit a nice shot to 12 feet and was pretty smug about it since it was a society comp and it was closest to the pin.
My PP whos in his early 60s steps up off 26 and thins his shot. He managed to skim it 3/4 times on the pond - it got over the bank, through the reeds, narrowly missing a few geese, and trickled to about 5 feet to the pin.

Unbelievable - so so hilarious and I dont think I shall see anything like that again.

Home course in Ireland. Bunker short front of 18.thinned it clean out and sailed towards the clubhouse. Hit the bricks between the massive windows of the bar.

Got up and down for bogey :)

It is always in my mind when playing a bunker shot facing a clubhouse. Easy does it.

Playing with my brother in the summer.
The 15th is a par 3 over a "lake" (large pond really)
He hit the ball high into the sky, it came down like a dropped bomb into the middle of the lake, splash, then a split second later the ball shot up out of the water and on to the green.
We'd never seen anything like it.
We walked over to check out the lake/pond expecting to see a branch or stuff in the water that it could have bounced off but the water was clear.
Strange

I was playing in a scramble and was playing last off the tee. The 9th hole is a 225 yard uphill par 3 and each of my team hit the most horrendous tee shots you can imagine. Even in a scramble we would have really struggled to get a 3. I stepped up with all the pressure and completely thinned my shot, a shocker that didn't get above waist height.

We all had a laugh as it seemed to run on to the green and were happy someone was on at least. Blind green so when we actually got there it turned out that I had put it to 2 feet, tap in birdie and on to the back 9. Ended up winning the scramble by a shot.

Playing at Mill Ride years ago on a hole with water in front of the green. Hit a really bad thin that performed a perfect "Barnes Wallace" and ended up on the green after 3 or 4 hops!!!! My playing partner was not amused in the least :)

shanked one out of bounds only for it to reappear about 20 ft in front of me after multiple ricochets in the trees.

popped it on the green then holed a 25ft double breaker for a routine par.

Topped drive in front of packed clubhouse/patio,... it went about 40ft.

Hit the pin for what would have been an eagle, tapped in the 2 inch birdie.

Sawtooth may remember this one, 18th at west hill a few years ago, was longest drive hole and i gave it everything! Massive pull hook.. to my horror, there was a queue of traffic due to roadworks, it was going at car window height and was going to kill someone or at least cause some serious damage. Cue a massive tree to block it and send the ball back to the middle of the fairway! Phew!!!

That one, or the mis judged.. (i say mis judged), it was blind, and i thought i had 220 yards to go, turned out i had about 150.. pulled a hybrid and smashed the ball into the pro shop roof, then it hit a buggy and laid to rest near the practice green... That was in sussex somewhere on my first ever forum meet.. Had the pleasure of TXL, Smiffy and LeRod.. what an introduction to forum life!! Plus i almost killed Smiffy on the first with a knifed 9 iron!! I thought it was going to kill him....

Not my shot but played with a gentleman who knifed a 40 yard pitch. This was going at least 40 yards over the green until it hit the wet fluttering flag, wrapped itself in the flag and dropped down to less than an inch from the hole.

Easy 3!

^^^^ This. 30 yds from pin, knifed wedge clearly going over the boundary fence & another 30 yards in to the woods. Caught the pennant on the flag and dropped on to the lip of the hole - so close that how it never teetered into the hole for a two we still don't know.

Or the smashed drive that hit a tree and rebounded straight into my nadgers. How come that's getting away with it? Because it only hit one of them.
