Looking for a new 5 wood to replace my old Callaway steelhead plus. The head is so small compared with more modern designs. No preference so will try loads out on the range.

Also looking for a new pair of shoes. Not sure whether to look at the new Footjoys due out in February or wait until April/May when everyone will be releasing their 2008 ranges.

Might also invest in a short game lesson. I've been reading Dave Pelz's Short Game Bible and trying to learn his "finesse" swing for approach shots but not making much headway.

Happy 2008 to one and all

New lighter golfbag and a new 48-50 degree spinmill type wedge.
Club wise im pretty happy.....until someone shows me better.
you can only get a vokey spinmill up to 54 degress. reason being you dont need a wedge to spin that much in that loft are because it reduces your chance of getting the ball running when you need too. so i have been told !

that finesse swing ! I dont really like the idea of it because i dont want it to interfere with my full swing. all i think of doing is keeping the dead hands and making less shoulder turn etc as he says you dont want it to be like yor foil coiled power swing. Dont get me wrong his ideas and understandings are fanstastic, but at my current level i can only make use of certain stuff.
i would recommend a short game lesson. i had one and practiced it for 3hours at a time most nights that i could and its knocked probably 5 or 6 shots of my game probably 5 or 6 putts because im getting closer to the hole!
my biggest problem at the mo is getting consistency out of rough which is hard enough being an amateur but i'd like to improve that! also i need to hit more greens then i'll be happy!

MD Golf do a variant to the spinmill, seen a few in the shop over the last few months, just trying to decide should I retire my stadard wedge or lose the 60 degree in faour of more control round the green as it never gets used anyway.

Im going to be buying an electric trolley without any doubt. It is about time.
I got a powakaddy jon. trust me your too young for one i got the piss taken out of me for it. the only reason i got one is when i was plying in 37 degrees. it comes in handy then but in the winter i been carrying. burns off the calories too!

Too young for one, never. I have a reconstructed left knee and a 1" drop in my pelvis so pulling the trolley for 18 leaves me in agony as I am not walking as I need to in order to prevent pain.

As for burning calories off, I am on a diet, I need to shed 4.5 stone this year.

Irons - going to visit the Mizuno guys (Welsh centre) once my course of lessons has settled my swing to a new (and hopefully improved) shape.

Driver.....I love my FT-3, but the draw bias is a liability! got to get a neutral next time. Considering Macgregor or Hyper X (maybe).

That's it.....

I'm 5' 10" weighing in at 18.5 stone. It is incredibly hard for me to lose weight as In my doorman days I used steroids (which I deeply regret) and was a 20st hulk. Today I am all beer-gut and stretchmarks where muscles used to be!
