What were your first set of irons

Some Howson "set" of junior clubs.

Then one I'd "grown" (aged 11 or 12) my uncle was kind enough to donate these bad boys:

And so began my love affair with Lynx.

No, but until September this year, all I played was Lynx irons. So that's approx 14 years of playing the same brand.

I'd say it was a pretty long affair.

I had a ladies Patty Berg 6iron to start with.

Then managed to persuade my mum to get me a shiny new set of Pinseeker Pro baldes from the club book.

Well worth the £1.99 for forty weeks. :D

First set I was given by an assistant pro. A set of Macgregor blades. What was he thinking? But that was back in 1990, and they were quite old then! Only played on and off for a few months and quit.

First set I bought were a set of Dunlop RMS irons, they had a black rubber beading look around them, from AG in Bournemouth in '92. Again couldn't stick at it. But I was still into my sailing back then. Sold them for 50% of the original value 4 years ago!!

First new set of irons I bought were a set of Browning Automatic irons circa 1985. The Pro had a set on the shelf and after a hit on the practice tee I had to have them. Tiny heads and a very blade like profile. Can't remember much about how I played with them.

MacGregor Tourney's were my first new set, replaced old set of Eric Brown's

This was my first set too! Tried to find a picture but no luck.

Snelly.

Edited as I found one! My grandfather bought them for me in 1981.

Mine were Howsons in around 1996. I had a 4½ year break from the end of 2000 (chronic back problems), then after a good round bought a Dunlop 65 (?) set, but took quite a while to equal or better that Howson best score (isn't it always the case?).

At the beginning of this year, I got my first decentish set (King Cobras) and this has helped get my handicap to a half decent level. When finances allow, I will update my driver and a couple of other clubs, but don't want to better some of your handicaps so soon :)

Had a manky half set.of slazengers while hacking around, then bought a set of Howson DJ100's. Actually not a bad set of clubs that got me to about 12.

Wow that brings back memories. Had them a couple of years in mid 70's and then bought a set of Macgregor Tourney Customs 985's blades. Best clubs i ever had, but wouldn't be able to hit them now. :(

First set was Vantage V-509 I got second hand from a friend. I used them for about 6 months until I got a used set of Nike Pro Combo’s. Loved the short irons but struggled with the longer ones. It was then after reading a review I picked up a set of New Mizuno MX100’s and haven’t looked back!

I had a string of 2nd hand sets as a kid as each time something broke I just got another set of 2nd hand irons for about £30 from the local golf shop.

The first NEW set I had were called Golfcraft. I've never heard of them since.

I still have the metal woods and 1 iron.

My first new set of irons were a set of Mizuno MP32s very good clubs. Have has 3 set of irons since i started playin i would not of changed any of them but have to as i have need stiffer shafts etc.
