What was the first NEW set of irons you bought yourself or were gifted?

Going back a bit, but i rememember saving up for ages to buy these LOL. When I got them they were my pride and joy and i spent ages cleaning them after every round.

Would love one last knock with them for old times, see how they compare to my AP's

Good memories

Howson Derby.
Like swinging a lead weight on the end of garden cane.

But I managed to get down to 15 with them, so it goes to show that it's more about the man than the club.

Mine was a set of Dunlops, full set irons, woods, putter. Could have been 65’s. Came with bag, brolly, tee’s and a dozen balls for £99. Did me for a few months as I wasn’t sure if I would still want to play after the initial interest had worn off.

Hi

My first half set were also Petron impala's which I used for many years.
Seems like this might put me at a certain age!!! Saw a half set a few months ago in a local charity shop. They did look a bit worse for wear but reminded me of when I first started playing.

My first NEW set of irons were my Titleist AP2s which I got earlier this year. 40+ years of playing the game and only my fourth set of irons. :o

First new set was a set of Viking; cavity backs and looked a bit like the Pings I really hankered for. Bought from Swan golf at Yardley in Birmingham many years ago. Sadly no longer trading.

Mizuno Astron, bought new when I was 13 years old - I loved those clubs and used them to win my club championship when I was 22.

First set of irons I actually bought myself were Mizuno TP9's! Before that I had a set of Slazenger Californian's that I think my parents bought me from Argos!! Had those babies for about 5 or 6 years before I saved up enough to purchase the TP9's.

Some Howson "set" of junior clubs.

Then one I'd grown to adult height (aged 11 or 12) my uncle was kind enough to donate these bad boys:

And so began my love affair with Lynx.

Ben Sayers kids set of some kind. Can't remember the specifics but it had a wood, some irons and a putter all wrapped up in a lovely red leather pencil bag. It must have been twenty years ago now so the memories are a little fuzzy around the edges.
