What one change would you make at your club?

This type of thread makes me wonder why some people keep up their memberships at their club - must make themselves really unhappy every time they have to play at such rubbish places :p
Everything perfect at your place then?

Not at all, but after listening to the constant whining of one of our Whatsapp group about how various local clubs in our area are better in the winter, have better clubhouses, etc it makes me wonder why he came back after a year at one of the 'better' clubs. He also does nothing to support he club by joining the committees etc, but still likes to moan

The grass is always greener on another courses fairways!

So many things spring to mind, but the main one for me would be redo every bunker on the course PROPERLY! They're a mixture of too much sand, too little sand, different kinds of sand, etc. Zero consistency.
We’ve just completed the rebuild of every bunker on the course and they are now all the same style and all have the same sand. To have the consistency you yearn for for yours is just magic 👍

Though of course there are still those who complain about style and consistency - usually brought about by their own inability to play a proper bunker shot 🙄

Why only one??

I’d change the par 4/5 holes to be a single consistent par from both the white and yellow tees rather than 4 from yellow, 5 from white. Hate having different pars on the same hole/course overall.
I’d also change the winter mats to be a better quality rather than the bumpy nonsense we have to deal with.

That is weird. If they become par 5s off the white doesn't make them 'easier' in a way? Is the slope/course rating/whatever lower off the whites as a result??

The tees are back a fair bit but not massively so maybe 30/40y which is significantly longer but makes a long par 4 into an easy par 5. And no the ratings are harder off the whites.
I’m a member of 2 clubs and both have this issue. Both annoy me!
Especially as all of the holes in question, 2 on 1 course and 1 on the other, are into the prevailing wind. We are off the yellows at the moment and into the wind I smashed driver and hit 3w as well as I could to one of them and was a few foot short of the green.
Neither club will pay to have everything redone to make them all consistent (signage, getting the course re rated, new scorecards, website updated etc)

Our club spends a lot of money on making improvements over the winter so no complaints there. If I had one improvement I’d like to see is the bunkers. Make each one the same sand same consistency. They did trial so new sand about this time last year and everyone was happy with it and was told that all the other course bunkers would have this sand put in.

The only thing I really dislike out my place is that it's, effectively, 2 9 hole courses on either side of a road.
Start on the first, first group out and when you reach the 10th you could have 3,4 or more groups in front of you...and vice versa if you start on the 10th
We have a traffic light system that is given to every member outlining when it's a good time to start (green), when it's going to be busy with groups crossing over(amber) and when you're not allowed to start(red)
There's also strict 2&3 balls on one side and e&4 balls on the other which switches every couple of hours.
If everyone uses the system correctly it works..there's just some knobs that don't..
Of course, a full time booking system would simplify things but would also make it harder for me to get out early as a single
I'd also like to hire a badger relocater.......

I don't move for a lot of reasons but mainly cost!

There could be 100 reasons to leave a place but 1000 to stay!
Indeed, and for me every one of these 1000 has a name. OK - maybe 998 reasons to stay. Actually tbh I can’t think of a single member that I have any even vaguely worry-some issues with…even the guy who knows his HI is currently much higher than his play merits 😊👍

I'd like to see sprinklers on the tee's coz there aren't any atm, in the summer they become very burnt up & slippery because the greenstaff don't water them.

I'd like to see better practice facilities because ours are absolutely rubbish.

Better drainage would be good, especially the greens, which flood quickly & drain slowly

A better car park with realistically wide markings as ours is too narrow, stupidly small marked bays & just not big enough busy days.

Other than that.
I suppose it's OK.

id like to swap the back 9 and front 9 round

would make a bit of a walk between "9" (18) and 10 (1) but think would be a better way round IMO
That’s another one, similar to you, one one of the courses I play, 9 is miles away from the club house almost as far as you can get. During lockdown they changed the course layout so we played 1-6 then 13-15 (15 is right at the club house) for the front 9 and played 16, 10-12, 7-9 and 17, 18 for the back 9.
Having 2 loops of 9 is was better, holes 16-18 at the moment rarely get used, the seniors unless it’s a comp just do “the full 15” as it’s known, even then for a number of them it’s more than they would ideally like. Having the 2 loops would enable them to do 9 which would also go down well and free up the back 9 more.
