What do you prefer the look / feel of in your irons?

Why not use a cavity back with a soft ball to get the look and feel your after. I think that the pro's primarily use blades due to the minimal offset , they can then shape the ball easier.

I've just swapped my MP52-s for I15's and am hitting the ball further, (stronger lofts?) and with only a little difference in feel as I use a soft ball.

I don't care what the club looks like, only how it plays. Testament to this is the fact I was playing off 1 handicap with a set of McGregor DoctorX irons and they were the ugliest irons you've ever seen! Didn't matter though, they were great to play with.

Cheers,

Snelly.

I played Zing2's for years, then suddenly couldnt stand the look of them and the particularly thick top line.

Changed to AP2's and loved them, - sure - not as powerful, and not as forgiving, but they inspired me more.

This year, have changed to Titleist CB's, and quite frankly they are gorgeous.
Whether they help me get down further remains to be seen.

So for me, its about looks, which hopefully inspire you. I could never use some of the damned ugly sticks out there....

I have to say its a bit of both for me.

The most important thing is the feel it has off the face but it cant have a thick edge cause that would just hurt my head.

I am eagerly awaiting the return of my Ping S57s that ping have had away for about a month now in that time i have been using my old MP 32s and hit them fairly well. which has got me thinking MP68s.

If anyone has them i noticed freddielong uses them are they really as good to hit as they are to look at???

They are even better to hit than they are to look at, they are more forgiving than the 32's which for a blade is amazing.

I honestly cannot rate them highly enough

just changed to Nike VR split cavities with a project x 5.5 shaft i honestly think these are the best irons i have ever hit for both feel and forgiveness.
used TM for years but they just dont compare the the Nike's

I have some ugly kit in my bag.
Wilson Spine?
Callaway big bertha (2002) 4 iron ??
even the 5-7 iron in the Mizuno Mx-900s are ugglleeeee.

Do I care? No

Would I buy a set of sleek and sexy if I was good enough?
too right.

:)

Looks imo breeds confidence. Although i would say the feel is more important.

I think with my TP's I get the best of both. Nice compact blade like head to look down on and a bit of a cavity to help me when it's not quite there striking wise. If I was capable though I'd get an out and out blade but those days are consigned to history
