You're playing the monthly medal and for the first 5 or 6 holes, all is going well. Then crash bang wallop.
Everything goes wrong.
Can you identify the problem and correct it there and then, does it take a few holes to work out the problem or do you not have a clue and just struggle your way round to another 0.1?

A good question, I try to slow my swing down if things go wrong. Did this on the last two holes last week and scored par/3pts and birdie/3pts for a two! Going to swing slow all day today to see what happens.

My game is solid from 8 irons and under (don't have to think about it much), try and hit a few shorter clubs and then replicate the technique back up. My issues stem from address and takeaway, I have got confidence on the shorter clubs but I stray under pressure on the longer ones.

If I hit a few good pitches and short irons I can usually build confidence back up.

If I HAVE to hit a long shot I focus on a slow tempo as I tend to fluster under pressure, panic and speed my swing up.

Aim down the left and hit a choppy cut all the way round. Then scrap like mad to chip & putt a half decent score

re run my first tee routine at an appropriate moment and try to 'start again'.

trying to identify a problem tends to create more problems than it solves for me - I play my best golf when I only focus on the outcome of a shot; not how to achieve it.

This is what i struggle wit most....... course mangement and understanding my game more required!!

I am hoping this will come wit experience, i am still relatively new to golf and still working on 'my swing'!!

If it goes totally pear shaped I usually revert to a baseball grip and hit every shot really hard. Strangely this has worked very well in the past.
If it is manageable, I hit safe wee cuts and hope the short game survives.
When I played in my prime and I very seldom had a score above 78, trouble was it was also seldom below 72!!
I was a fine scrambler in the Ken Brown style.

Nowadays I tend to over correct, so the lost ball right becomes the lost ball left on the next hole.
