Major Champion
Having won a few competitions recently, and two more in the Golf Week that finished on Friday, with only one being qualifying for handicap and my name being bandied around as a bandit, I thought that todays Texas Scramble with my regular partner and me, partnering two higher handicappers would be an ideal way of keeping under the radar!
So the two imports, with our regular ones being unavailable, were a right couple of pee takers and after a couple of holes thought that I'd just enjoy the morning with a healthy dose of banter (most at my expense as the oldie) A fair few pars started to turn into the odd birdie and when we bogied a hole and I thought "that was that" but more birdies and a 6.5 combined 10% handicap bought us in at 57.4 - and 3rd place - and more "bandit" comments
Not only that, but the assitant pro was doing a challenge for a £5 on the par 3 18th and if anyone hit closer than him on the 194 yarder, they got a £10. Me - 15 foot from the pin, him in the bunker! Let him keep the tenner as it was a members charity game for a cancer charity for his daughter who died aged 6 and he has raised £40k + so far.
I hope the handicap Sec will be charitable as well !
