Evening.........
was going to buy a plane black lacoste polo shirt today until a work mate put me off by saying lacoste is too chavie and wearing lacoste is frowned upon nowadays

i personally dont think there is anything wrong with wearing it what do you guys think?

Not seen any Lacoste gear since the mid eighties.

Really not sure that it matters what label is on your polo shirt on the course, cannot be any worse than my Asda or Tesco on lable ones (tried to go a bit posher but Waitrose do not do clothes yet)

I wear Lacoste polos and knits on the course. Its the person that makes the chav not the clothes.

If its good enough for martin kaymer then its good enough for me (think robert allenby wears it too).

It really doesn't matter what brand your shirt is surely.

I often buy brands that were 'in' a while ago, but now are cheap and they're still good shirts.

The only time you don't want to see an alligator on your shirt is if you're playing in Florida :D

If it's a polo and it's smart, wear it. :o

Nowt wrong with the label, regardless.

I'd rather be seen in a Lacoste shirt than a Jack Wills.

Agree entirely - if you feel comfortable wearing it, then why care! I've a couple of nice Lacoste polo shirts and have never considered them chavvy.

GET IT ON !!! ok so chavs may well wear lacoste and other well known brands , and to be honest they pay good money for them , everybody has the right to wear what they like and you're not going to look like a chav wearing lacoste on the golf course unless you have got a burberry cap and you're tracksuit bottoms tucked into you're burberry socks with a pair of rockports on ... at the end of the day they are a very good quality made item ...

Quaaawlity maaaaan!

Pure mad an nat no! Geez a swig aw yer Buckie ya rocket! :D

Clothes alone do not make someone a chav or ned. Is he 14 and pestering his mum to buy him new Nike Airs? Label snobbery is pointless.

Wear it, tell him to get over himself, and let your golf do the talking.

If it makes you feel better, my friend Shep wore his England home shirt when we played on the day of England's Opening World Cup match earlier this summer....Well, it's collared, innit! So no one could say anything, even though you could see the old duffers just about having a heart attack. :D

Does it matter?

I wear whatever is ironed and what is on the 1st hanger I get to.

I love Lyle & Scott gear, like the top the boys bought me at Princes, but TBH its the only L&S I wear on the course.

I save my designer gear for football.

Me too, mate. It's timeless. You can add Ollie, MAJ and Seve (although we all prefer him in Slazenger) to Kaymer. I seem to recall that even Monty used to look good in Lacoste - and that is saying something.

I don't think Lacoste is that chav.

If you walk around like one, then it's chav...

Just do what you want to do, not what other people want to do.

I personally am looking for a tartan pair of trousers, cus I've got plenty a black shirt to go with it.
