If just a general comment can throw off your game that easily...... How about a plane flying overhead? Birds making noise in the trees? Nothing anybody says is going to throw off my play.....I can do that to myself inside my head any time though.
I’ve got a good mate who will step back from a shot if he hears a butterfly a mile away flap it’s wings…slight exaggeration, but only a slight one.🙄

There were a number of people at my first club that were pretty sensitive to various things. Several couldn't putt if you were anywhere in front or behind them...couldn't be anywhere in line of sight. People who are talking on a nearby fairway....not even very loud....but they could "hear them" so they went ballistic. I just don't care what you do when I'm hitting.....I tell people as long as you don't throw anything at me and preferably not let out a blood curdling scream....other than that, once I'm about to start my swing/putt I'm immune to anything. Granted...I think part of it was because I grew up playing basketball and the coaches kept pounding it in to the players that when you are shooting free throws, there is NOTHING that anybody can do to you....so ignore it and just think about your shot. When I was coaching basketball+volleyball I used to have drills where other players were allowed to do/say just about anything to them as long as they didn't actually interfere with the free throw/serve. Some people really have a hard time separating the noise/movement and what they are doing.
