TV - What Are You Watching?

Breaking Bad was top notch for me, but the performances of Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul were such a big part of that. Funny to think Cranston was only known as the loveable dad from Malcolm in the Middle before that.

Tried Breaking Bad twice and just couldn’t get into it

Same with Better Call Saul and the Sopranos

Just recently watched Broadwalk Empire - that was ok

Banshee is next

I enjoyed Sons of Anarchy,but it felt like watching the A team at times.
Bullets flying everywhere & no one getting hit.

Oh without a doubt they had the weapons skills of a storm trooper! Couldn’t hit a target if they tried.

I found GoT an odd watch. I loved the first few seasons, but it felt like the last couple were rushed and kind of muddled together to give an ending because the final book hasn’t even been written yet so when it’s done it won’t match anything that confused the series which makes it even odder to end how it did

The author worked with the tv series people so the main points of the series will be the same as the book, if he ever reaches the end point with his books. I suspect he will never finish, he is neither a prolific writer nor a picture of health. Some of the filler parts may be different but the core strands will be the same.

To say the ending of GoT is controversial is quite the understatement. Officianados, I'm not one, are still fuming

Ah, I had not heard that. That is definitely different to what was said at the time.

Despite the avatar, I'm not an obsessive. Once the series was over, that's it for me. Anyway, I really do doubt the ending will ever see print, he has two more to go.

I suppose he has to say that now doesn't he? Otherwise people are buying the book just to read what they've already seen on TV.

I dunno! There could be truth in what you say or what the author says. But why is accurate is that some other characters and how their stories played out are very different from the books and he said at the time it wasn’t what he suggested to the producers. End of the day it’s been completed as a series and like LT says it’s hardly likely to ever see the light of day as heist prolific with his writing and nobody is clambering for an outcome.

I couldn't get into Game of Thrones either, not my cup of tea at all. I don't really like things that pretend to be set in some period of history, but then you've got fantasy elements thrown in as well - and not a big fan of gratuitous violence either. Then again I tried Sopranos and I was bored -less watching that as well. Way too slow.

What bogged me off re GOT. I never got the hype when it was on. And ended up seeing one of the main points when the night walker was killed. It was on goggle box. Then when I eventually binge watched it during Covid I was bogged knowing I already knew what was going to happen.

Banshee was a class series, really enjoyed that and it did not overstay it's welcome.

An older series that I still love is The Shield. Mentioned it loads but just an amazing cop drama

Yeah Gogglebox can be dangerous. I think at the start of each episode they need to put up a list of all the shows they'll be discussing.
