Just finished 'The Diplomat' - Excellent story and acting
Binge watched the whole second series last night. Really very good, looking forward to season 3.

In stark contrast the Jackal is pants, my previous post was very much understated…. Have stuck with it for 6 episodes but it just gets worse each time, way too many plot holes and bad acting. Must leave it alone.

Finished Lucifer tonight, it has been quite a journey. Despite the final season being a bit of a letdown and the often cheesy moment we really enjoyed the whole thing, Lucifer Morningstar is such a great character, some of his one liners were top level 🤣
One of my Favorite shows, right from its pre Netflix days. Still think they missed a trick with Lucifer’s character but Tom Ellis was excellent and carried it off well.

I agree, surprised they didn’t start a spin off or something. Maybe one day we’ll get to see Lucifer and “the detective” working together again 😢

In other news we started The Diplomat last night, seems decent enough 2 episodes in.

Anyway, The Mentalist.
Saw many clips on YTube and it looked interesting.
Then I watched Ep1, S1 to find there are 7 series of 12 episodes!
Surely, the buzzer must be pressed for "repetition"?
Anyone recommend it for the duration?

Bake Off, The Final

Fuming. Weakest winner in years. Dylan should have won but completely blew the final, every part of it. Actually in the final, Christiaan smashed the opening 2 bakes, not perfect in the show stopper but good enough. Georgie did two average bakes and then was good in the show stopper but not perfect. Hand the trophy to Christiaan please. Georgie shouldn't have even been in the final, she should have gone last week.

Not happy

Were watching "New Amsterdam" on netflix at the moment - really quite good!

Your classic American hospital programme to some extent but they tackle a lot of modern society issues too - most episodes leave my wife in tears and even me on a few!!

So many of the series that I watch have finished permanently now. Seems there was a sweet spot of about 6 or 7 years ago when there were some great shows coming on that ran for a number of years. Just does not seem to be the same number of quality series running now.

I agree, its all limited series stuff at the moment.

Was really disappointed with the LOTR series, they threw so much money at it and its just rubbish.

I think the result was fair.
Christiaan was ahead after two rounds, but did not impress in the showstopper. The brief was "highly decorated" which his was not. Only his middle section was decorated, judged as poor and he accepted that criticism.
Georgie found time to highly decorate hers and a faultless interior. It looked by far the best and both judges found it delicious.
With better decoration Christiaan could have won. He focussed his time and attention to his interior structure and flavours that were acceptable but not good enough to win without "showstopper" presentation.

I like a good limited series but they take so long to produce, 2 or 3 years between series. I like to have a few standard series that put out a new one pretty much every year and there is such a lack of them.

. Can’t argue with any of that, the contest was not close enough to just come down to the decorations on the final bake, Georgie was just not the best baker. Felt sorry for Dylan but he knew he had mucked it up and fair play for him for not attempting a flounce (I’m looking at you Georgie) really pleased at the end to see he has got a job at a Michelin starred restaurant.

She was my least preferred winner after the hissy fit last week. Struck me Alison was definitely favouring her, both with the arm round and persuading her to pull her big girl pants up and crack on last week, plus helping her lift her cake last night. I was amazed how long Christiaan had to struggle to hang his without anyone offering to help him. They just watched as if waiting for disaster to strike him. Dylan had a mare (also chuffed to see he got his dream job) and for sure hissy knicker's showstopper was better but enough to make up for the previous two bakes? Not sure.
