Does anyone believe in high performance tees? (or is there such a thing). Stumbled on to something called as Tornado tees in the US. http://www.tornadotee.com/

Apparently, they reduced friction as well as provide lower resistance to the driver as it hits the tee and therefore increases ball speed.

To my simple mind, the ball should have left the building by the time the driver hits the tee, so how does it matter what tee you use. The only difference tee makes is the height at which it is kept.

Am I wrong in not wanting this new revolutionary golf kit in my stockings in a few weeks?

can't see it myself

though people in those long driving championships always use "special" low friction tees ...........?

having just looked at the pdf of the Trackman data they provide to support their claims I find it staggering that they have such large variations in the club's angle of attack accross the 3 types of tee!

the way I read the information they present is that the shots where the driver is decending have a greater spin rate on the ball than the shot where the head is coming back up a tiny bit - which just happens to be the shot from their Tee Peg.

Unbelievable :sbox:

You have a lot of free time mate... i just switched off when I heard about it.... (does not help if you are an engineer by training)

Not knowing a thing about launch angles/spin rates etc I'm guessing they got Mr H.Acker off the street to hit off the wooden and plastic tees then asked Mr T.Pro to hit the tornado tee?

that wouldn't have worked - they needed to at least have clubhead speeds in the same area, and as many other stats as possible.

just haven't made a good enough job of it!

this is a classic of where the old Iron Byron would be very relevant - same club, same balls, different tees (at the same height!) and look at the results.......but no, they use a golfer!
