Look at the wink and laughing emojis! Think your list will be tough to top!

Nairn comment does, which is fair enough, not the comment about it being the worst list, i thought this was your fave links courses?? Nairn and WG are my two faves so how can a list they contain be the worst?? Muirfield and Carnoustie topped the GM lists for may years before its was supplanted by Trump at the top

People go misty eyed at the history.

Move on now.
Don't forget that many of it's features are copied on courses across the world so God/nature or whoever you want to credit the design to obviously knew a thing or two.

Why trolling? Old Course hasn't even got a stand out hole on it.

Got to be doing something right if it’s up there in the Top 10 in the World as it seems to be regularly, golfers all over the world travel to play there , pros dream of playing there , it has something special about it that I don’t think will be at any other course , - 17th Road hole is a clear stand out , even the first and last are stand outs. I have only ever been nervous once when hitting a tee shot - the first on the Old Course.

17th hole - new tee isn't on the golf course, hit blind over a hotel complex.

A hole that would never be built today, would never be allowed with H&S and is downright stupid. Fun to play it once but really is nothing special.

My faves

Turnberry ailsa. Maybe the best course I’ve played.

Birkdale
Hillside
Formby

Must admit I could happily play a rotation of those three courses exclusively for the rest of my life and be happy.

Royal Liverpool was great as I popped my cherry links wise on it. Great test but not pretty enough to be in the upper echelons. Superficial I know..

Taking my own course out of the list (as it's obviously the best!) and defining 'top' as those courses I've played which I would be most excited to play tomorrow.

Muirfield
Old Course
Royal Dornoch
Machrihanish
Carnoustie

Honourable mentions to Nairn, Elie, Murcar, Brora, Cruden Bay, Dunbar etc etc --- aren't we lucky!

You must be rubbish at golf, it's the easiest fairway to hit in golf.

Interesting Cabby that you equate someone being nervous to their ability , can you expand a little on that ? - seen pros that play on ET and major winners state they were nervous hitting their tee shot on the first - all because of the history of the course you are about to play.

It is an intimidating tee (aura only) shot but it's a 600 yard wide fairway!

Anyway I've made my views on TOC quite clear. Does nothing for me.

I think you may have misunderstood my post - saw your list and thought it was impressive 👍

I always had Murifield as my top links course that I have played but if I had played Turnberry Ailsa in the last couple of years I think that would now be top.
I walk across it occasionally and it looks stunning.

nothing wrong with thinking your home course is the best, after all you are best placed to play it often and appreciate it .

I'm surprised more people don't rate their home course in the top of their lists
