Could anyone actually explain to me what he has achieved in the last eight years being in the job. Never been a big fan of his but I would not like to call him when he might of achieved something which I have overlooked.

In my opinion both Blair and Bush should be strung up as war criminals. In retrospect Saddam Hussein was a pussy cat compared with Islamic State! Those in the anti-war campaign warned that the Iraq war would not end terrorism, and was far more likely to increase it. And boy have they been proved right!

Not quite 'started' and only the 1!

But always struck me as absurd that a PM who had taken UK into a war under false pretences could be a 'Peace Envoy'!

A trial would certainly demonstrate how flimsy the evidence was about WMD! And the treatment of Dr David Kelly by Blair's publicity machine was obscene!

And Saddam was no pussycat! Just a different approach to publicising (not) his atrocities!

Oh the luxury of hindsight. Saddam a pussy cat? Not if you happened to be Kurdish or anyone else who didn't see things the same way. Of course people will say he lied about WMD but others would say he bent the truth for the right reasons. My own view is that his actions were too coloured by the US in the still raw aftermath of 9/11. Easy to forget after all these years what those times were like. As for peace envoy? I really don't know what he did for the last 8 years tbh but I think you have to admire the bloke for even trying in that part of the world....talk about a poisoned chalice. He achieved more in Ireland than the leaders of the last 40 or 50 years between them so he at least had some credentials in the subject matter.
 
OMG!

Without Blair there, there could be wars and revolutions!! Wait, just wait a minute... I think they might just have had the odd spat in the last few years. Yeah, he's done a grand job. Wonder if he's on a performance related bonus?
 
I guess until you've been in the same position it's easy to throw stones, over simplify things and think one knows better

I'm a pacifist and even I don't necessarily think he took that decision because he thought war was a good thing, and I don't think he did it because GW told him it was th right thing. there was a bloke in the late 1930s who said we shouldn't go to war and his name has been pilloried for the rest of history, yet the bloke who said we'll fight them in the trenches is a legend. Yet we didn't win the war because if him - there were a large number of worldwide factors that leg to Germany losing.

Finally ... I guess if you have been part of the agreement for peace in eg NI, and you have seen the horrors of war (ie Iraq) then perhaps it does put you in a far better position to be a peace envoy than an other politician who has never had to make a hard decision.

Having said that, can't stand the bloke personally.

You possibly want to go tell all the Kurds that he slaughtered amongst many other hundreds of thousands that died that Hussain is a pussycat

Still waiting for you to clarify which wars he was responsible for starting ?
