Re: Shot penalty... Outrageous.

The Masters works very hard to develop their brand in Asia so I doubt they would try to destroy a fantastic coup for the event. Slow play is a curse on the professional tours and it is a disgrace nobody has been penalised in almost 20 years.

Re: Shot penalty... Outrageous.

By the sounds of it though he wont be the only one it has taken tiger and donald 1hr and 20 minutes to do 3 holes!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Shot penalty... Outrageous.

Tough shout but surely his playing partners could have said let's get a move on . He's 14 my 14 year old is sitting in his room on his XBOX kinda puts into perspective how well the kid has done.

Re: Shot penalty... Outrageous.

It will only be right and justified by the ancients of mumu IF its not just one person singled out. NOT going to believe that one player caused the 40 minute wait at the 4th that Woods and Donald had to endure. Whoever is miving that slowly needs penalised as well otherwise who is to say there is no conspiracy?

His playing partners aren't there to babysit him. They'll be focused on their own game.

Re: Shot penalty... Outrageous.

Never said they were but if he's that slow it will affect the way they play .

Do you see Kevin Na & Keegan Bradley's playing partners telling them to get a move on??? If one of his partners had told the young lad to get a move on there'd probably be a thread on here saying that they were picking on him.

Not seen anything about his but one of the radio 5 guests just made the point, which I wholeheartedly agree with, that he was playing slow and should have been penalised. However, there are slow players on tour every week, everyone knows who thy are, so if we're gonna penalise the kid then fine, but lets penalise everyone else as well

Re: Shot penalty... Outrageous.

The Pros that get put on the clock push the time limits to the line.
They'll speed up just enough to avoid the penalty and get off the clock.
The Kid obviously didn't heed the warnings.
Tough but that's Pro Golf.

We're not speaking about Na or Bradley here we're speaking about a 14 year old who is slow playing with 2 other guys they should tell in a polite way to speed it up a bit and yes it does affect there rhythm .

Re: Shot penalty... Outrageous.

For once I find myself agreeing with Monty, I think its an incredibly harsh decision, ok he's been slow and was warned, however he's the weakest player in the field, never played here before and is already under more pressure than many others out there given his age. Add this to the fact that no one on the PGA tour has been given a stroke penalty for slow play since 1995 yet they decide to give him one says to me he's been picked on... Tiger and Donald took 1 hour 20 minutes to play 3 holes but I doubt they'll be put on the clock never mind given a stroke penalty, there's absolutely no consistency here.

Re: Shot penalty... Outrageous.

Ha....ley......looo....yah!!!

At last someone has been penalised for slow play, hope this sends a message to the rest of the field. Slow play is killing the game, amateurs take their examples from the pros.

A 14yo playing slowly.....it's a joke. He should be hitting his ball, bounding down the fairway and itching to hit it again. As has been rightly said above, they won't have penalised him for a first offence, he will have received several warnings

But strangely they seem happy with a player in the field who, a lot of evidence would suggest, has used an illegal performance enhancing substance. I would be more concerned with that than a 14 year old kid playing a bit slowly.

err... it took Tiger and Luke that long due to being held up by slow play ahead.....

Re: Shot penalty... Outrageous.

If a Professional gets a penalty stroke added, it can make $$$$$ difference in their earnings for that comp.
An amateur - makes no financial difference.

Just saying...

It's not there job to. The people who's job it is to told him to speed it up & he didn't. Hence the penalty.
