Lot of chatter this morning about Rory not talking at all to Bryson last night. No words between him and Scottie at the presentation. Seems Rory is not that popular amongst his peers. Woods was the same on the course.
So can you be a nice guy and still win?

Guess it will all depend on the personality of the player and the situation

Rory will be very single minded in that situation

But during other rounds he may chat away

I’m not sure it’s any reflection on how other people see him or his popularity

He certainly popular amongst the fans going by the the way they reacted last night and also plenty of players have responded

Think it’s prob just BDC nature that he likes to chat a lot

In that situation id be the same until my opponent was broken...

Winning this meant everything to Rory, he had to do what he had to do to win

Polite greeting on 1st tee. Get on with your job, let them get on with theirs. Handshake on last.

This ain’t social golf and you’re paired together purely by circumstances - no need to be anything more than respectful to your opponent.

If I was in that situation under that pressure and microscope then I’d be all business, no chat too.

I've won loads and I'm too nice for words.

Apart from the times when people are rude, inconsiderate, insulting, cheating, threatening, etc.
Then I might turn a little bit nasty.

Has Bryson really commented on a lack of chit chat? That's kind of funny :-)
I think someone asked him how Rory was feeling going into a play-off, and he said 'no idea, he didn't talk to me'. I don't think he was complaining, just answered the question.

I guess people focus in different ways. I know we are not playing tour golf so it's completely different, but when I have a match at my club, I play better when I'm relaxed and having a laugh with the opponent(s). If they're moody or not talking I'm more on edge I would say.

Yeah just read about it. Harrington is spot on for me. It would be more unusual if Rory did chit chat the round away - especially if that atmosphere is helpful to Bryson.

An innocuous comment suddenly gets blown out of proportion and a player becomes the bad guy. Such is the way of clickbait media now.
