Last year was great, playing well all round, lots of low scores, no real complaints (apart from the cost of playing as a non-member) but decided early this year I wanted to straighten out some parts of my swing.

Dived into learning stack and tilt which was going very well and then a few things came up that stopped me getting onto the course.... and the practice fizzled out as a result. Changed my clubs (which I'm not entirely satisfied with) decided to stop using stack and tilt and switch back to my old swing until I get the time to practice more... and then picked up an injury.

Boy it's hard to change from one swing to another over night without practice! Can't stop tilting, can't stop firing my hips off to the left and my swing plane is all over the place..... IT FEELS FANTASTIC!!! :p

Because I know I haven't got the opportunity to fix it right now (can't stand on the practice ground all day with an injury) I am REALLY enjoying playing like I haven't done since the late 1990's. It's all over the shop.. one goes left, one is blocked, one swing comes over the top, club face open, clubface closed.. blah blah

I had the most fun today [in good company] just firing off shots (in all directions) without a care in the world - it even crossed my mind to never worry about practicing again and just going out and playing for a laugh, just for the FUN of the game. Frankly right now I couldn't care whether I shoot 68 or 148. If I was following the practice routine that I was doing last year and played as badly as I did today I'd probably have thrown the clubs outta the car on the way home.

I'm working on some exercises for my wrist that appear to be doing the trick slowly and am in the process of joining a great club (thus solving the 'paying for 12 green fees every month' problem)...and it also has excellent practice facilities :p

So now I've totally snookered myself. Do I REALLY want to be on the practice ground if instead I can enjoy myself just ripping it round the course and having a laugh, smoking ciggies like they're going out of fashion and drinking coke-a-cola until I'm so bloated I might pop if I move too fast. I'm sure that once I feel 100% fit (if the smoking doesn't kill me in the mean time) I'll get back on the range and go back to taking the game seriously again, but in the meantime I feel 25 again!! :p

<S'cuse the rant... needed to get that outta my head, I feel better already>

... best I go take some tablets :o

It is refreshing to play with a golfer of such a low handicap who isn't stuck right up themselves.
Long may your crapiness continue....... especially when I am playing you for money

:D

Nah.

John Daly's got better dress sense.

And I don't suppose he's ever drunk a 'muddy puddle' either

You should have seen him yesterday ay Leatherhead mate.

Talk about cr@p. I had to carry him all the way round (not easy at my age) and he only got 3 birdies

But to be honest, he really seemed to enjoy himself as did we all - apart possibly from A N Other who ended up giving money to the 3 other players . :D :D

You two must make some kind of team.

Mr I'm so steady and straight. A safe pair of hands. ONLY ;)

Alongside Mr I'm playing crap ( yeah  ) but I'm still firing it 300 yards down there and looking to birdie every 1 in 3 holes. Capable of turning a game round in a couple of holes just using that unheard of technique of keeping it straight for a change.

As a pairing I reckon Seve and Jose in their hayday would have struggled against you two.

T'was dovetailing at it's best :D

Leftie looked after the front 9 and then he looked after the back 9 - just what you need from a partner :D

We did manage a run of 4 birdie's in a row... which helps.
