I'm of to dusseldorf on saturday anyone been there before
Lived there for 9 years, absolutely brilliant, Altstadt has over 300 Bars, clubs and food places in a square mile, If you're with Mrs n Kids, becareful on Konigsallee, third richest street in Europe, serious shopping.
Loads of things to see, just depends how long you're staying for.

Lisbon is decent with a few things to see to do with the explorers.

Outside is a lovely place called Sintra which has a royal palace, where the kings (obviously) used to live. Probably 3 days worth of sightseeing

Madrid is great (and better than Barcelona) and you could spend a week there, and it is quite safe and pretty for a capital city.

Seville is also spot on, and very cultural and beautiful.

Is all this a cut and paste job from expedia? 😜

Cheers Paul, staying for 3 nights me and my young lad , we are going to watch Dortmund on the sunday so a few sherries will be consumed, were staying not far from the Old Town, we;re staying in the Friedrichstadt district if thats any help

I spent an afternoon at Sinatra. It's a lovely place, but it's not Lisbon. It's more cascais area. Lisbon to me was stupidly hilly, bitty, with not many (any?) world class attractions. Think Eifel tower, Colloseum, Tower of London, la sagrada familia, etc. And then think Lisbon. Hmm.

Zippo.

Only a short tram ride away, use the trams to get about mate, really reliant and spotlessly clean, if you want to kill some time walk along the Rhein to the Rheinturm Tower, overlooks Dusseldorf, Cafe at the top which revolves, that way you see everything.
Once the Bars shut at 4am you have to go to the railway station were you can drink till the bar open again at 10 am, 24hr drinking😃
Enjoy it mate, don't know your lads age but the Aldstadt will be very busy till 1-2 in the morning and will still be full of families with kids, very safe atmosphere for a place with so much alcohol being consumed.

No. I would have said go to Benfica's ground for a match as well, seeing the eagle fly round the roof rafters in large circles before landing on the pitch is also a sight to behold.

Not sure if they have been in the Europa league in recent times for you though......:D

http://www.pasteisdebelem.pt/en.html Quite a famous cake shop. Walk past the queue out of the door and sit at a table. Just ask for a selection.

In the evening ask to go to a Fado restaurant. A bit odd but an experience.

I have been a few times through work. It does nothing for me, not helped by being ripped off twice by taxi drivers, but the above suggestions have been the best parts for me.

Not been to Lisbon but have been to Madrid - one of my favourite cities despite getting pick-pocketed on underground, actually they unzipped my bag and took my wallet from the bottom of it - when someone pointed out my bag was open I had a moment of cold sweat as I thought my two and a half grand camera might have gone missing - it wasn't.
