Over the years for various reasons, I've given things up.

Food wise, recently I stopped having many wheat-based foodstuffs to help my 'digestion'. I don't have tea at all, after years of having builders strength several times a day. No bread anymore - simply cutting this out I've lost the mini pot-belly. I was never an alcohol fan, so effectively I've been tee-total for over a decade. Fizzy drinks are now part of the past.

I was a keen footballer, cricketer and squash player. Getting old and having kids has meant I can't do these anymore; more to point, I didn't want to do them as I got a bit bored of them. My main sport is golf now, yet a few years ago I overdid it by playing and practicing too much and fell out of love. Now I'm back enthused as I'm limiting what I do in golf to keep me keen.

I've also given up asking the wife for...

It doesn't make you live longer, just makes it feel like it. ;)

I gave it up for music and a free electric band!

I started off the new year by giving up chocolate and McDonalds with a couple of colleagues, which was intended to be a thing just until Easter, however when one of them faltered on the chocolate challenge, the other one gave him a a load of grief for it, so I told her that she wouldn't be able to last without chocolate until her wedding in October. She failed, gorged at Easter and I am still chocolate free.

I also gave up bread at Easter, as it was one of the things that was holding back my weight loss goals... I have no limits when it comes to bread, and so where most people would have 2 slices of toast, I would smash the whole loaf, absolutely lathered in butter and something like Philadelphia.

I feel loads better fro not eating McD's, as well as much better off in the pocket; working shifts and a lot of nights means that this is often the only available option, but I now make sure I take something to work with me everyday, instead of relying on fast food, takeaways and pre packed butties!

I've found I have a lot more energy as well, which is a huge bonus!

I also "gave up" smoking in favour of vaping, which has also had a great monetary benefit as well untold health benefits... I'm now working on cutting this out as I am using this more out of a psychological need rather than an addiction (per se) to the stuff thats in it!

Not a McD's fan and find their burgers greasy. Given a choice I'd rather have a Burger King but even then they are a rarity. Stopped having KFC after watching a programme on their stores and a documentary on the way their chickens are farmed. Shame as I use to enjoy them.
