Well I finally reached the major milestone today guys. I broke 80 for the first time ever!! I birdied the last to shoot 79, on the card were 2 doubles, 2 bogeys and a birdie(despite many other chances) and rest were pars. Hitting my driver well all round only missing the fairway 4 times, twice because I went to far on a dogleg! This is on the back end of a really good couple of weeks for me golf wise, had my first eagle on sunday (week before last), shot a gross 59 in the texas scramble on sunday and now this :D.

If I was you I would start handing in general play cards and get cut that way.
If you dont you will end up shooting net sixtydaft in a medal and give all the older members carte blanche to wag their fingers at you calling you all sorts and slagging off the junior section in general.
Or do you want to win prizes?

Good shooting man.
If you do shoot that low off your hcp in a medal then good on you. Yes you will look like a bandit, but the club will slash you hcp accordingly.

Well done on the milestone, you will find yourse3lf doing it more frequently now so enjoy and well done.

Now get your h/c cut ya bandit! :D

You cannot get cut on general play. Well not at my club, so it would be a waste of time.

As the immiediate past junior captain and a well respected member of the club and junior section I would feel deeply insulted if anybody accused me of handicap protection, when I haven't missed a white tee comp that I am able to enter since october. My biggest problem is taking my general game into a competition, as is most peoples. I would also feel insulted if anybody at my club felt the need to 'slag off' the junior section out of jealousy when most memebers play off the same handicaps as the juniors.

I want to be the best golfer that I can be and still win prizes, whilst enjoying myself. Is that not the idea?

I sincerely hope you are right and your club is different from some of the clubs I have been a member of.

Unfortunatley jealousy is rife in golf and I hope you dont encounter what I did as a junior playing off 2 as hopefully you will get to that sort of h/cap
Good luck mate and keep practicing and enjoying your golf.
P.S. Have you played in the Daily Telegraph stuff?

Have you played in the Daily Telegraph stuff?

I did in May last year, but I have come on leaps and bounds since then certainly in the short game department. Not sure where I finished because they only read out first place, I asked the organiser to send on the results. I am still waiting :(.

Well done and congrats on your score

Lets hope its the first of many scores in the 70's this year. Dont worry about what other people think of your h/c theyre only jealous (as someone stated earlier). If you win with a good score then thats great , how do you think everyone else got to lower h/c's , it wasnt by shooting bad scores was it?

Keep us informed of your progress

There aren't many clubs that willallow general play cards forsubmission for adjustment, handicapwise.... More's the pity imho. Though I do agree with you.

Well Done JC, Sorry CD :D

Its a great milestone to hit, and does make you beleive you can do it more often now. Sadly I havn't since I first did a few weeks ago, but my scores are generally alot lower (low 80's) than before (high 80's, low 90's)
