The Masters 2025

Shame Rose did not win. Ten birdies on the final day was magnificent.
Coming from 7 behind on the final day as a 44-year-old was reminiscent of the 42-year-old who came from 7 behind to win in 1978. He shot 64 however, with only 9 birdies!
That is 3 runner-up places for Rose at The Masters. I would like to see him win in 2027. He will be 46 then, and about 6 months older than JN was in 1986. What a record that would be!

Rory does seem to make life hard for himself sometimes.
But what mental strength and resilience he showed throughout - despite the errors.
The play-off hole was superb. Excellent shots played by both.

Rory won. He deserved to win. I hope he wins more majors. Seven total would be good. More would be better.
Rose and McIlroy next year at the Masters? I hope they are both there again challenging for the lead on the final day.

Best Masters tournament I have watched in recent years, although last night left me exhausted.

Whilst it would be easy to argue that Rory still shows alarming mental fragility at times, as evidenced by the horror approaches to 13 and 18 from a combined yardage of around 200, he more than showed his resilience in the way he failed to let those errors destroy him. For all the supposed weakness, I suspect many would have crumbled in the face of those mistakes.

I’m delighted for him.
It's not just mental resilience in the short term, he also had to overcome the last 10 years when on that final putting green

I finally went to bed at about 2 last night after the adrenaline had worn off and I couldn't get to sleep because I felt like I was going to throw up... I can't imagine how he must have felt actually playing in the damn thing!

Congratulations Rory 💚

That was the reason everyone loves rory in contention. He was box office stuff from start to finish. Good and bad. Unbelievable viewing.
When he pitched into the water on 13 the tournament was blown wide open. How he managed to hold his nerve from that point I will never know. The shot on 15 was rory at his best. Legacy on the line and nailed it. 👌
Congrats to Justin on his run. Could so easily have been him slipping on the jacket.
The scenes when rory sank the winning putt will never be matched. Pure raw human emotion.

Me too - espcecially as there seems to have been a world record number of posts from one member. Didn't need all the distractions during a wonderful evening of golf. It amy be the future during the majors

What’s really disappointing is after a great final round in a major the thread was really great , and you in your first post after have felt the need to make a snidey comment

It’s even more disappointing when you have been very vocal about what people say to you affecting your mental health

Maybe it’s worth also having a look in a mirror at times

A Master’s Dilemma— Wanting Rory to win, but wanting Justin to not lose.!

Rightly , this will be remembered as McIlroy’s Masters, but also it will be remembered as when another Brit fought to the end, and who in glorious defeat showed himself a true gentleman. Justin Rose was a Class Act.

JR reaction on the 18th green and also what he said after just sums him up - a true gentleman and sportsman’s to the end

Was gutted for him and I really hope he gives himself another chance to win a major

Thinking back in recent years and it’s prob the best final day I have seen in a while

The battle with Stenson and Mickleson was excellent but I don’t think anything could match the ups and downs of those 18 holes

Their ability is out of this world but the mental strength sets them apart from the rest

Some of those shots

The wedge out of the trees , the eagle putt form Rose on 13 , the 5 iron around the tree , the shot into 16 from Rose , the birdie from Rose on the last and the 8 iron from Rory on 17

I can’t wait to watch it all again and go through the emotions

Ah yes, Justin Rose. He’s probably my favourite current player. Been around ages, great player, I love his determination and never say die attitude, especially in the Ryder cup, he’s just a great leader in my opinion.

Despite this I wanted Rory to win last night, partly to get the monkey off his back, partly for the dream, partly for my own sanity. But Justin Rose, what a player and person he is. Would love to see him win another major, either the masters or the open would be just lovely.

Lets leave the argument here please.
Ive known Rorys Coach Michael for 20 odd years and worked with Rorys dad years ago. I cant imagine just how happy Rory and his circle of family and friends will be considering how much of a golf history nut he is too. He is going to be one fella that really understands what this means and I couldnt be happier for him and Harry, absolutely chuffed and hopefuly the naysayers will quit with the negative comments there also as Harry has proved to be a great partner out on the course. He is no Billy Foster technical wise but as a friend and source of reinforcements hes right up there.

I like Justins attitude plus he never lost it, Rory won it especially when he knocked it so close on the playoff.

There was someone on 5live last night talking about Harry who knows him and pretty much stated that he is a superb caddy and works very well with Rory , he does a lot of stuff that we don’t notice

You could see them chatting a lot when it come to shot selections and then just general chit chat

It's funny to watch as Rory chatters on and on and Harry barely says a word. Clearly gets the balance right for his man.

When he hit his shot in to the bunker on 18 my thoughts immediately went to Greg Norman in 1986.
So glad it did not have the same final outcome.

Just watching again and Justin on the 11th. He made a jokey "cluck cluck" chicken noise about his bail out on the approach and I said at the time he had clearly relaxed a bit. Thought he looked very tense most of Saturday. He really did kick on from there so clearly found a better place mentally.

It may have been mentioned before

Victor Hovland nearly getting a lifetime mention with his second in to 15, how could it have lipped outo_O
