The Masters 2025

I love the Masters it’s probably my favourite major but the Butler Cabin thing is just a really uncomfortable watch, I bet the players can’t wait to get out of the place 🤣
It's like waiting for your STD test results at a clinic. (No personal experience).

It does come across as very false. It is part of ther "traditions" so I can't see them changing it and I guess for the winner it is another memory and part of the whole experience of winning. So the big question is what will Rory serve at the Masters dinner

Ulster Fry. He'll probably try and fit in a serving of Tayto Cheese and Onion crisps as well

It’s a bit cringe but reckon the players don’t really care as they know they will get a green jacket

Prob a bit awkward for last years winner

It’s stlll weird that as a winner you still need a member to “sign you in”

What’s the worst shot in masters history ?

Rory’s wedge on 13 or Spieths pitch on 12 in 2016
I'm not sure if either were the worst shot in Masters history. I am however pretty sure that Rory's shot on 13 was worse than Spieths on 12, which is generally acknowledged to be one of the more daunting tee shots anyone will ever face (under the circumstances)

On the other hand, all Rory had to do was hit the middle of the green from 87 yards and two putt. No, he had to leave us all in absolute shock and leave us dangling till the end.

Now, if you were asking about the best shot ever, the 2nd on 15 has to be up there with anything that has gone before.

The Open at Portrush this year. PGA Championship at Quail Hollow.

Be interesting to see how Rory plays at those venues, if he goes into them with sky high confidence and many of the gremlins finally extinguished.

can see it going one of two ways

His mental block will be gone, and his many nearly wins become lots more majors and he could finish with 10+

Or with the pressure gone for finally getting the Masters monkey of his back, he wont have the drive to keep pushing on.

I hope it is the former rather than the latter

At least we should take heart next time we dump a pitch into a bunker or pond. Even the best a fallable

Talking caddies

It was only shown from one angle and he was in the background .

Did anybody else notice the jubilation from Justin Rose's caddy after he sunk the putt on the 18th.

I’m talking about Spieths 3rd shot on 12 go remind yourself of it it’s a corker

Yes, that shot on the 15th. The previous day’s shot was unreal, that time it was to assert some more dominance and take control, showing everyone ‘this is mine’.

Yesterday, to do that after what had unfolded in the 30 minutes, gone from a 4 shot lead to a 3 way tie, the whole world watching, some waiting for him to fail. To contemplate such a wild shot, hitting a huge draw onto a green that had cost him a double bogey 4 days earlier, well, I can’t really put into words how unbelievably good that was. Will be talked about for years.

Absolutely sensational, and played out in the most Rory McIlroy-ish way possible. Put everyone, including Rose & BDC, through a total emotional wringer.
  • Rose was brilliant. And it was fitting in the end he was on the green with Rory rather than BDC. He's earned his Ryder Cup spot over the weekend.
  • BDC punched himself out over the course of the tournament, and his irons were shockingly bad. Whilst he relished the pairing with McIlroy I'm sure he didn't expect the level of support for his opponent - or the horror show of shots they both had. Unlike McIlroy however he had no remarkable recoveries. He'll be fine though, his personality at the minute is quite bullish so there should be limited scar tissue
  • The McIlroys' tournament was bookended by Poppy's putt and Rory's final putt in the play-off. Erica's reaction was sweet as well - I imagine relief all round that this weight has been removed.
  • Balls. Of. Steel.
  • Muted reactions to recent victories greatly belied the overwhelming sense of relief and achievement when that play-off putt went in - although we knew, I'm not sure I appreciated just what individual and personal pressure this man was under. I am actually relieved for him. From Nicklaus, Tiger, Player, and all the pundits, the expectation just built so much over such a long time.... the crown was heavy.
  • Dread to think if he'd ever have recovered had he not got it done.
  • Certainly won't be a surprise if he bags a couple more Masters. It is the course that suits him and he knows every inch of it.
  • Appreciate there are Rory haters, but this is a monumental achievement, particularly for European golf. He deserves to be celebrated for the next month, until at least the next Major.
  • Never liked the term 'choke', but unlike others who were in this bracket, the mental fortitude to eventually get it done - wow.
  • The Brooks / Rory debate is done.
  • The Course owed McIlroy nothing, but McIlroy owed all this to himself. I'm hoping he'll be a lot more free now, as will his supporters.
  • Are Grand Slams like buses? Jordan to complete his own next month perhaps?
  • Special mention to Reed, Aberg, Scheffler and Im - positioned themselves at various stages impressively.
  • Extra special mention to Rose and Lowry. Rose is a class act. Lowry, brilliant interview on Saturday and impressive bear hug of friendship on Sunday.
  • Worst / best Masters Saturday & Sunday ever!? I don't even know.
