My head is in a pickle as to why the U.S. has 3 of the 4 Majors. I, for one would like to see it split 2-2 to the U.S. and Europe. My argument is simple ... They can't even take the Ryder Cup from us. They may have the worlds most HYPED players but Europe has enough talent to hold their own.

When and Why was it decided that we should only get ONE to their THREE?

I agree Madandra, Golf is now a world sport, I would go a step further and say that Europe should have one, the US one,, South Afria and the East.

Compare the results of Europeans and Americans in the Majors in the 21st century. That might give you the answer to your question. As for the Ryder Cup? Do they care?

Just leave it alone, it works great as it is, Majors- USGA and R&A obviously need a tournament each as the games governing bodies i.e. the US Open and British Open, the Masters just evolved from it's highly prestigious invitational field way back in 1923 or whatever and the PGA of America needed a flagship event as they run the tour. Remember 30 years ago the European Tour was tiny, almost non-existent, all the good players went to America to earn a living.
For the sake of comparative records between Nicklaus/Tiger/Player/Snead/Hogan etc you need to leave the major tournament structure alone. The modern game evolved in the USA and they had by miles the biggest playing public when the Majors evolved, just the way it is. Going and changing it all now or adding on new Majors will spoil everything.

The Open beats both the PGA and US hands down. Though the Masters is brilliant the yanks will never beat our history and heritage.

Majors count, Ryder Cups dont. Ryder Cup is boring, the US dont care, Tiger couldn't give a monkeys and Phil took about 2 months off before it last year. We used to lose all the time then decided we would change our team to include all of Europe, now we win all the time isn't it time to make it GB&I again? I dont care about golfers from Sweden, France, Italy, Spain, Germany, at least the Yanks speak the same lingo as us.

Have to agree with Birdieman. Woods is focussed on one thing, and on one thing only. Equalling Nicklaus in the majors. I bet he doesn't give a t*** about the Ryder Cup.
I also wonder what Els, Goosen, Singh, Adams, Immelman etc. have to say about the Ryder Cup.

More to the point, the World Golf Tour seems to tour only America these days. We have 6 of the 7 biggest tournaments for individuals in the US, 1 in GB and none in the rest of the world.

Also, many of these tournaments go to the same courses each time. Augusta hosts a Major and Firestone a WGC event each year.
