Got to be the most vile player of all time.

Decent footballer in his prime, but a vile human being. Perhaps THE most disgusting thing a person can do to another is spit in their face.

I always recall a mate of mine when I was working - the most mild mannered, even tempered cop you could ever wish to meet. Big fella, he was, but never lost his temper. Quietly spoken, got the job done in a controlled way.

I only ever once saw him lose his rag, and when it happened it was like someone had flicked a switch. We were booking a prisoner into custody when said lowlife hawked a huge lump of phlegm and spat it straight in my mate’s face. It took four of us to stop him putting the fella through the wall into next week.

Suarez has a significant personality disorder if he seemingly believes such behaviour is in any way acceptable. As if biting wasn’t bad enough……

Donnarumma to City is an odd one, given the signing of James Trafford in the summer.

I know I said Ekitike must be slightly miffed at the signing of Isak, but Trafford must be absolutely fuming.

You what? He's scored 38 goals for them in under two years. MLS defenders are awful, he's still very much good enough there.

Fair enough. As I said, I don't watch them and didn't look at his stats. But even if he has done well over the last 2 years, will he continue to hit those performances from the age of 38? Maybe. They have Messi, who is the main man, you'd think that they could replace Suarez somehow. Maybe there is another striker out there, in their mid 30's, who are now ready to earn a nice semi retirement in the US (well, at least when the transfer window opens).

I just felt it really is a sad state for US football, if they need to rely on the quality of a 38 year old striker, even if they have to put up with him gobbing in people's faces.

Also not forgetting Suarez's deliberate handball v Ghana at the World Cup to stop them scoring (and winning) in the final minute.

He got sent off for it. But personally I'd be supportive in those circumstances of a rule change to award a "penalty goal". i.e. the goal is given, attacking team ALSO get a penalty. Offending player red-carded.

Don't watch Inter Miami, but I'd assume at the age of 38, Suarez is perhaps not at the club purely on his ability and what he can bring to the side on the pitch. But more to do with his big profile and how he helps put Inter Miami on the map? Therefore, spitting in people's faces seems to go against nearly every reason why he is at the club, as it tarnishes Inter Miami's image rather than enhances it.

I wouldn't be surprised if Inter Miami try to cancel his contract if they legally can, and I'm sure there couldn't be too many fans that would criticize them for that.

His actions when spitting and biting are a disgrace and deserve long bans

The handball incident helped his country get into a semi final of a World Cup , it’s the same when OGS took out that forward who was clear on goal or when Phil Neville deliberately handled on the line , or any deliberate foul that stop a clear goal

If that action helps your team winning a trophy then fans would be applauding it and if a player didn’t do it and the team lost then i would suspect we would be livid

Spitting is one of the lowest things someone can do - would prefer to be hit than spat at

Well...the overnight dust has settled from the chaos of transfer deadline day and, putting the circus around the Isak transfer to one side, i have to say that it has been an extremely good window for Newcastle.

Players out...Kelly, Lewis, Wilson, Longstaff, Hayden, Dubravka, Vlachodimos, Targett, Kuol, Isak for a combined total of around €175m (possibly a bit more as some transfers havent had the value published)

In: Woltemade, Wissa, Elanga, Ramsey, Thiaw, Ramsdale, Cordero, Seung-Soo for a combined value of €289m

Values are those on Transfermarkt...so many deals or sources quote base price but not add-ons, some include add-ons that its not really easy to nail down an exact accurate figure, so using the Transfermarkt values is as good as anything for an indicative excercise.

so...maybe €115m net spend over the course of the summer.

Many of the departures were fringe players, sat on the books, players reaching the end of their playing days, players who hadnt quite shown the development that was hoped for them (Kuol as an example, but to be fair he has been hindered by a couple of poorly chosen loans...one to Hearts where he simply never got game time and one to Volendam in Holland where the club got relegated...in the last year of his contract it made sense for all parties for him to move on).

Only perhaps Longstaff and Dubravka mgiht have seen game time in the coming season, but it would have been limited to substitute appearances for the former and the latter, at 36, even without the arrival of Ramsdale would perhaps have been reduced to bit part domestic cup appearances...it was probably the right time to seek a replacement for him.

Obviously the big one...Isak, the club has lost a 20+ goal a season striker, they are not easy to come by but the money recieved will help the club immeasurably over the coming two or three years in helping meet PSR requirements.

Of the arrivals....firstly the two W's. Wissa...personaly think we overpaid for a 29 year old but if he can bag 15 goals in the coming season then that will be fair return as he settles in to his new club. Woltemade has the potential to be a star, like Wissa, if he bags 15 goals in the first season then its a decent return as he settles in...especially given his relative youth...if he is a hit then you can see in two or three years a Madrid/Munich/PSG offering well...who knows, the sky could be very high in 2028 for transfer values...lets say north of £150m. Woltemade can be veyr flexible...not just playing as an out and out striker, but as a number 10 linking play and bringing others into the game around him. I'm personally excited about the future with him for the first time in ages.

Elanga will be a very good foil to Jacob Murphy, offering perhaps more raw pace down the right...albeit on early evidence he needs to just concentrate on delivering a calm well constructed cross into the box. Thiaw I dont know much about but should add additional quality and depth at the back and able to deputise/replace players like Krafth, Schar and Botman when required. Ramsey is again someone who I only know from watching MOTD...seems a solid attacking midfield option, possibly an upgrade on Willock.

Ramsdale...its a season long loan so will be Dubravka's replacement, will probably take all the domestic cup games and the odd league game to give Pope a break (and to replace him when he gets sent off for crazy challenges outside the box as seems inevitable). I suspect a long term goalkeeping signing wil arrive next summer.

Then on to the final two names on the incoming list...Cordero is a young 18yo Spanish U-19 international who we have sent out on loan after getting him in on a free early in the window. I saw a bit of him in the Euro U19 Championship early in the summer and he appears to be a pacy, fleet footed, left sided player but perhaps a bit raw and the end product perhaps not quite there yet...so one for development and, if he doesn't eventually graduate to the first team, will get moved on for profit a couple of years down the line (like Kuol). Seung-Soo is an 18yo Korean winger. From what I've seen in pre-season he is a dribbler of the ball, looking to beat players and get towards goal...again like Cordero, needs to develop an end product.

But all in all, on balance, I don't think we could have wished for a better transfer window...certainly far more enjoyable than the prior regime where we would be lucky if Ashley purchased a can of paint to redo the Sports Direct logos on the club walls...perhaps the only thing missing was the signing of a central defensive midfielder to provide backup for Tonali...who is our best midfielder...and i'll defend that stance to all the Bruno Guimares lovers.

Anyway.....8/10 for the business conducted.....3/10 for the summer journey.

Think wrong there . Ortega is leaving ,and Ederson was muted leaving to go to Galatasaray & Saudi league . Trafford will have a slow bed in ( cup games and cover for injuries) then next season all being well will be City’s No 1

Maybe. But we've seen it countless times when the top clubs buy young English players. They never get a game, just sit on the bench meeting homegrown quota, never develop and end up in the Championship at 28. Hope it doesn't happen to him as we need a decent rival for Pickford in the England side.

He is there as backup and will get games to prove himself that he can be the number 1 when Ederson leaves

It’s no different than we all said . Trafford will get plenty of games . You don’t miss a chance to sign one of the best goalkeeper’s in Europe , aged only 26 .. Trafford will have been informed about Ederson leaving , it’s no shock he nearly left last season. Anyway I’m made up with the signing .

It certainly is different, because you were all suggesting he would take over as number 1 from Ederson. Not happening now obviously, he'll be back-up for as long as he's there.

Edit: On a related note, why has Ederson only gone to Fenerbahce?? He's still much better than that!

I am quite happy he got sold for loads to Newcastle because for some rules reason, international transfer of an under 23 we (Werder Bremen) get a share out of it, about 4 million euros. If he would have gone to Munich we would have gotten nothing.

I am not sure what to expect from him over here. He never made it past Fullkrug (now West Ham) and Duksch (now Birmingham) and his 1st 6 month in Stuttgart weren’t great either. So Newcastle paid top money for a guy who had 4 good months in a not to short career so far. If he has defensive duties he won’t do great, and while he is tall his header game isn’t anything like Sheerer.
Maybe his game fits, maybe it doesn’t.

Not sure Trafford will get as many games as you think. He’ll play for as long as City are in the Carabao and FA Cups. Can’t see him playing too many league or CL games.

Stuart Pearce reportedly (I don’t listen) said on TalkSport yesterday that Trafford should use this as an opportunity to learn from one of the best. That ignores the fact that Donnarumma is only 26 and could potentially be at the club for another ten years. Is that all James Trafford is worth?

As regards Donnarumma himself, he’s a fabulous shot stopper, but there’s a huge question mark hanging over him for me. He is notoriously weak under high balls. We’ve all seen allegedly top class keepers come into the Premier League and really struggle because of the way the game is played here.

So the jury is out until he’s played in the intensity of this league.

Do you mean before Trafford signed or after? It seemed like Ederson leaving was an uncertainty right up until yesterday?

At any rate, it seemed like some were saying that Ederson would be expected to leave in the not too distant future, at which point Trafford would get his big chance at one of the top clubs in Europe. That seemed to be the ultimate optimistic scenario, and ignoring what could be the alternative.

Now that City have signed one of the most high profile goalkeepers in the world, aged only 26, good luck for Trafford in getting his "plenty" of games. I'm sure he'll be made up playing in the League Cup matches, and perhaps some other cup games every now and then.

Personally, I think it would have been better for his own development and standing in the game to be the first choice keeper for a decent club, playing all the league games and perhaps many of their cup games as well. At City, it looks like the only way that is going to happen now is if Donnarumma gets a long-term injury, or after 6 months it appears Donnarumma is bad enough to get dropped.
