Because I don't believe it is right. If you don't want the player, sell them. If no-one is willing to pay that much, drop the price. Why should one of your opponents get a player on the cheap, and probably not even pay their wages.
Loans should be to give young players experience, by playing at lower levels or to give clubs a short term solution to a big injury crisis. Not just because you have too many players.

Well, they confer an unfair competitive advantage in most cases - players can't play against their parent club, but can play against all the other teams in the league.
It’s a tricky and it’s something I sort of agree with because of that exact reason you mention

It may also stop some clubs hoovering up young players

Not sure that happens much in reality, or gets anywhere close to it! But I get the point you're making. (y)
Put it another way .
End of season his home team needs you to win and they get CL footy.

Said player gets a red card for professional foul bringing a striker down last man!
His home team including HIM get in the CL.

It’s to get over the financial rules as well hoovering up young players then selling them on.
Some would say that’s good business though 😳

I see what you're saying. Are there any examples of such suspicious shenanigans happening....?

This isn’t good, how long until we see it happening with prem clubs?
It'll be interesting to see what the fan reaction will be like for this one. For many reasons:

  • Villareal fans have one few home match they'll be able to go to
  • Barcelona fans will have one less away match to go to
  • Rivals of Barcelona in the league will have to play a full set of away games, which are more difficult. Barcelona will have one less, and their "home" opponent is not actually at home. Win that game and win the league by a point, Madrid fans may be furious. Especially if they lose away at Villareal
Personally, I think it is a disgrace. Yes, I know it is for the money. But, I think when you do these types of things, it damages sporting integrity, and loses the support of the local fans. Where does it stop? Might as well just play every single league game in China or USA if it is just about the money.
