I think Eze would be mad to move this summer.
He is the star man for Palace who will play 90% of games for them.
Have a decent season and he is going to the World Cup with a decent chance of being a starter.
Move now and he won’t be a guaranteed starter for his new club and could end up not making the World Cup squad at all.
If I was him I think give Palace one more season then move next summer.
Except the bloke in charge of picking the England starting XI has indicated to players that they won't be in with a shout unless they're playing CL or for one of the big clubs.
He hasn't done the smaller clubs with promising English players any favours.

Real shame this sort of situation. Obviously no-one outside the club knows exactly what's been said so it's all conjecture, but it's sad when someone who was previously so beloved by the fans apparently sticks two fingers up at them. Don't blame Newcastle for doubling down and not giving into his demands in the slightest.

If he goes to Spurs he starts every week and will also be playing in the CL

That’s going to give him a better chance for the World Cup
If he goes to Spurs he has other quality players to compete with. They have just bought Kudus from West Ham and already have Kuluveski and Johnson and Richarlison who can play the same position.
I think it would be a risky move and think he would be better staying at Palace

This is the problem now imo with players having too much power and also owners looking at them as assets

Imagine a player doing that to the likes of Paisley , Shanks , Clough , Ferguson - they would spend a year in the reserves at best

Now those owners will see the player as an asset with right now his highest value -

Eze will be playing in the ten role behind those players ( replacing Maddison )

It would be a very good front 4 players

I agree but Eze is already in the squad and playing for him.
Personally I think another season at Palace is better for him than being a squad player at a new club.
As for Tuchel I find it bizarre you would rule out at least half the leagues players and would rather rely on players at Champions league clubs who often won’t be getting much playing time.

Unless their initials are JH :ROFLMAO:

Me as well.
Do we really want a player with an attitude like that.
I’m on the fence a bit as we need another striker and he’s quality.
But really don’t like the way it’s going

That is only if that’s the formation Frank wants to go with.
At Brentford he normally had 3 work horses in the middle of the park.
Obviously at Spurs he may change but in my opinion that would be a risk for Eze.

I agree with Arthur. If Eze came to Spurs he'd be nailed on starter on the left hand side. And playing Champion's League is going to help his England chances no end. Kulusevski plays on the right and is injured. Richarlison has never really held down a starting spot, and Eze is a better player than him. Johnson is a good impact sub but limited as a starter IMO. Kudus will be playing on the right or the centre I should think, given that he's left-footed.

It’s a step up , he will be playing CL football and will play every week

Last season at Brentford he has Damsgaard as the 10 attacking player

If he goes to Spurs there is no doubt he starts regularly

I think he has the quality to play for anyone.
I just think he would be better having another year at Palace.
Going to a new club with a new manager is always a risk.
Also is Spurs a step up? 😉😂 (This is a joke).

I think this is strange logic

Are you basically saying that the star player for any "smaller" club should never make a move to a "bigger" club, because the bigger club will have better players and they will thus have more competition to get in the starting line up? If so, at what point would it ever be considered reasonable for a top player at a smaller club make a move upwards!? Does the player have to be absolutely amazing, Messi/Ronaldo level and guaranteed a position in the starting line up before they consider it?

Or, if there is a right time to move, but it isn't this year, then when is the right time? He is now 27, I'd say that would seem a fairly decent age to be moving up, if you are going to do it. Not sure waiting until you are 28, 29, 30, etc is a better thing to do. In fact, it could be harmful to him, as he might become typecast as a big fish in a small pond. Or if Palace have a poor season, and he tails off a bit, then his chance may be gone completely.

Personally, I think he walks straight into the Spurs starting 11. They also have a lot of extra games in Champions League, so even if he is rested at times, there are plenty of chances to play football. And, from a financial point of view, it would seem a good move for him as well.

I am not saying that players should not try and move to a bigger/better club.
I think it would be better for him to stay another season with Palace where he knows the club a lot of their play is built around him and he will shine more there if he wants to make the England World cup squad.
A good season for him followed by a good World Cup and he would have his pick of teams.
Just my opinion though

What is wrong with him staying at Palace for the rest of his career? Show some loyalty to the club and fans. No need for him to move clubs - unless he wants even more money!

Very rare in the sport now for players to stay at one club

Eze isn’t a born and bred Palace player as such - he moved up through a few clubs as a youth and then when Palace came calling whilst he was at QPR he left

Players move on when bigger clubs come along looking to get them

I know all that but thank you very much for the mansplaining, not at all patronising.

My point is that people are saying he must move and I am asking why? He is adored by the Palace fans, playing every week, scoring goals, playing for his country. There is no need for him to move.

Oh for goodness sake there was no patronising 🤦‍♂️

I don’t read anyone saying he “must” move

One says he might be better off staying another season which might give him a better chance for the World Cup by staying in a settled environment

Where as others are saying this might be the best chance to move on to get a club playing in the top competition within European football which may give him a great chance of making the squad if he performs well

There is always a club that is a step up unless you are at Real Madrid

He could stay and be adored by Palace fans scoring scoring goals etc

He could also move and do that at another club playing in a stronger competition and a bigger team

There is nothing wrong with him staying.
A lot of players have moved and it has destroyed their careers.
I think he might want to move to give himself a chance of competing for the very top honours in the game though and with respect to palace he is not going to win Premier league titles or the champions league with them.

Almost every player will want to move up to bigger and bigger clubs, make more money, play in the Champion's League and for England etc. The ones who haven't done that are notable for being in the minority, e.g. Le Tissier. And he finished up with only 8 caps.
