What has probably not been mentioned yet. And I have said this before. The prem league has about 50% American owners. What would happen if the Utd and Liverpool American owners agreed to have a game in the U S of A

Liverpool Red Hawks v Manchester Diablos.

Nothing because the league wouldn’t allow it and the owners also wouldn’t do it because they have learned from the ESL

I thought they pretty much ruled that out earlier this year and decided to stick with the Summer Series friendly tournament.
I think only the NJ match was well attended (82,000) and the others were a bit poor.

But the clubs didn’t leave the CL to form a new seperate comp which is what the ESL was and the fans made their voices very clear and the clubs all pulled out of it

It would be the same again

Just imagine what the home fans of the clubs think - fans that have paid for ST and be going every week - imagine their reaction

The owners aren’t daft to go there again

The 39th game was muted and dismissed

Playing outside in the US or Middle East was also muted and dismissed

Do you remember the days when you could buy a season ticket and know at the beginning of the season that kick off would be 3pm on a Saturday, and occasionally on a Tuesday evening? Now with TV there will be matches all weekend, most weeknights - do you think they really care that much about the fans? There was uproar when they started playing late on Sunday evenings and fans couldn't get back by public transport - what has changed?
The answer will be "you can still watch it on TV"

I think the uproar from fans associated with the clubs playing in the USA would cause a huge controversy.

The owners may be tempted if it puts more cash in their pocket. But, if that is the expense of controversy, then they may find it a step too far, and damaging to their brand.

Besides, I'm trying to determine what the true value is of playing a PL fixture outside the UK? How much money are we talking about here? These clubs can earn a few million in pre-season friendly tournaments, where they play multiple games. Is playing a single PL game in the USA going to bring in substantial money? Are advertisers and broadcasters going to go crazy for it, and start throwing money at them? Are American fans going to suddenly get extremely excited about it, and throw more money at it? Even if a club was to generate £5/10 million extra, it just doesn't seem worth the effort for the top clubs.

You can still go to the games even if the times change and the games are still at your home ground

Playing a home game at a ground in another continent is whole different level

And the money gained will be very insignificant and certainly wouldn’t be much to the clubs
 
I guess you look at why NFL and other American sports play in Europe. There must be a benefit somewhere. Not sure where but it must be beneficial or that would not keep expanding.

Think the majority still want the Glazer family burnt at the stake.

But a lot seem to have thrown Ratcliffe into the mixing bowl with them a bit prematurely. It’s protests regarding Ineos which seem to have been shelved.
