I think that they think they have to dive to bring it to the ref's attention.
I'd give the penalty and then book both players.

It’s studs on the knee - it’s a tackle that someone else will get a red card for at some stage , it was nasty

So, when taking a drop in golf, it's okay to kneel on the ground as your knee is obviously at knee height.

That’s a nasty challenge the only reason it wasn’t higher was he lost his footing as he was out of control.
