@Aztecs27 interested to hear your comments about CHO. Whenever I've seen him on TV he has been very underwhelming but you clearly see him more often. What has he brought you?

How do you think Elanga has done this season? You beat us to him, probably wasn't much of a fight 😄, and I'm interested if he has come on this season?

CHO has been clutch for us many times this season.

He’s a bit predictable, in the way Robben was…always cuts in onto his favoured foot. You know he’s going to do it….Robben was unbeatable with it…CHO isn’t that level obviously but having had a few years of injury, he seems to finally be finding his confidence.

Doesn’t help that we’ve been so inconsistent, which has led to him having games with minimal impact as well. But we’d be in a lot more trouble without him, scored some vital goals.

Same goes for Elanga too. His confidence has dropped since coming back after he missed a few weeks due to injury. Was taking players on knowing he’d burn them but not doing it now and second guessing himself. But still a great signing and has had plenty of positive impact on the team this season. Has really come on since his last few years at United.

So happy for Yatesy to finally get his first premier league goal today too.

Currently watching Man City v Wolves on MOTD.

I literally have no idea what is and what is not a penalty now.

Honestly, I give up. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

First one - ref wasn’t gonna give it. Two Man City players told him to. Points to the spot.

Second - no more than mutual engagement.

EDIT. Just found out it was Stuart Attwell on VAR. You literally couldn’t make this stuff up! 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤣🤣🤣

When Sky took over they just ruined football for me as a match going fan.
That season I only got to four home games .
We played mostly Sunday or Monday night.
I played golf ( comps on Sunday) and was working shifts two Mondays out of three.
I gave up my season ticket the year after as I ended up giving my ticket to friends of family who couldn’t get one.

I don’t miss going now all the cheating and diving just puts me off.
If they make all games live at 3pm on tv this will happen to lots more fans imo.
But games without fans will be terrible and no atmosphere.
For you, maybe. But grounds are still full. Not every match going fan is the same. Some might like the odd early kick off as they get home early, can still make plans later. Some might like the odd late kick off, maybe have a round of golf in the morning.

The Premier League didn't grow to what it is now by having all 3pm kick offs. People forget it is the fans that have generated the millions in the game now. They buy Sky TV and TNT. They are the reason sponsors spend millions because fans go out and buy their stuff if they see it alongside watching the footy. They are the ones who invest, in some way, to English football despite living on the East Coast of Asia, Middle of USA or wherever.

Having all games at 3pm, but televised, is a very bad idea and will never happen. Most of us in here probably comment more on other teams than our own, as less than half the games we watch feature our club. I watched Everton v Luton on Friday night. I quite like Luton this year, and I have watched Everton a lot over the years. If all games were at same time, I'd never watch Luton, except when against United. In fact, I wouldn't watch any other PL side more than twice a year, as I'd always watch Utd. That does nothing in terms of growth, as we all know football is what it is because we all passionately support our own side, but it is also nice to watch other games.

I'll look forward to watching Spurs Liverpool later on. There are plenty of games we all watch and look forward to that feature other clubs. Quite like MNF, makes Mondays slightly less depressing. Even if any of us are season ticket holders for a club, we are armchair fans for every other match our club are not playing (and possibly most away matches unless you travel).

It is why I think they'll end up having all games during weekend at different times in future, and televise all. Of course, match going fans are important, you need and want the atmosphere.

Just caught up on MOTD. I'm the same. I suppose a lot of decisions were diluted because some of those losing sides got battered anyway

I'd put my money on it there will be controversy in Spurs game later, with VAR. But not really a big call that :)

So it’s the “fans” paying for TV that is the most important, but having all games televised at 3pm is bad!

Got some bad news for you, all games are televised live, regardless of kick off times, IN EVERY OTHER COUNTRY BUT UK.

It’s only the stupid rules brought in during the early 60’s, way before the PL invented football, to help smaller clubs (apparently). That’s why even the sunday match isn’t at 3pm and there’s only 1 match on.

What happens now? People turn to illegal methods to watch the games and TV Companies/PL etc are losing money to that.

The only reason Kick offs varied from 3pm saturday is for TV or in a rare case clashes with other events in the cities.

8pm, 8:15pm kick offs midweek often mean fans can’t catch trains home!

If you’re going to move times fine! But think about the travelling fan! The game is nothing without fans in the grounds.

It's no wonder that the smaller clubs feel that the big teams get all the decisions going their way. Havertz cheated and dived and yet VAR didn't intervene. The Man City attacker followed through with his shot and kicked the defender to get a penalty. And what was the difference between the second Man City penalty (which was definitely a penalty) and the Forest one against Everton?

And the phrase that really annoys me is "If the ref hadn't given it I don't think VAR would have intervened". If VAR can look at fifteen replays and not give a penalty then how is it a penalty. If the decision of the on field ref is wrong then it should be changed. VAR seems to be used to back up their mates decisions rather than giving the correct decision. Or being used to justify decisions given to the big teams.

Exactly what we all said when Phillips was clearing the ball at Newcastle and the attacker got himself in the way ... At the other end a pen would be given.. so how was it a foul on Phillips and a pen to Newcastle?

Ridiculous standards

Surely Gordon was allowed to try and get the ball?

Yes. But he litterally got in the way of a clearance. Yesterday has proven if you do that the other end with the attacker shooting and a defender getting in the way it's a pen the other way

So it never in a million years was a penalty. Poor decision

Sorry, but those 2 decisions are poles apart, Philips didn’t see Gordon come from behind and kicked him unintentionally, the City penalty, both attacker and defender are aware of each other and coming together.

So in Philip’s case there’s no doubt he fouled Gordon, but was it clever (cheating) by Gordon or a genuine attempt to nick the ball.

Gvsrdiol didn’t even appeal for a penalty and the Ref/VAR saw something no one else did or can explain.

Yes for me I quite clearly said that !

I’m not against early / late kick offs as long as they spread them across all teams equally.
But the ones not televised early or late put them on at 3Pm sat.
It’s no wonder we don’t see kids playing footy in the parks there isn’t much on TV at reasonable times for them to watch.
As said there on everywhere else in the world.

In fairness, Gvardiol didn’t appeal because he was down holding his crown jewels…

F
Declan Rice. What a signing.

Very expensive on paper for someone in his position but he's stepped up a level. He gives you everything each game, seldom injured, protects the defence, links play and provides a threat going forward. On top of that he's a natural leader and helps run the dressing room.
It’s not often that one signing lifts a top club to the extent he has this season, whilst also taking his own game has gone to another level.

Seems like a top bloke and grounded with it.
