The var ref, nor the onfield, can't turn a blind eye to this though. They get marked on their performances, they would pay a price.

You also have to be fair to other teams, as in golf where it's the field. It affects both teams goal difference, Sunderland would not be happy to see Slob on the pitch in the week. You can't see the game in isolation
The ref on the field did originally give the goal.
I agree it was the right decision by the laws of the game

I get why in the heat of the moment. I'm sure var explained it to the ref at which point he realised and changed the decision.
Listening to a Ref this morning the main issue that caused the confusion was Haaland fouling Szoboszlai, up until then it was a clear DOGSO and Red card, once Haaland committed a foul they can’t ignore that and had to follow the Laws of the Game.

He was saying that when Szob fouled Haaland the Ref could and did play advantage, if then the ball had gone in the net and no other incidents between the 2 of them the goal would of stood and Szob would of got a Yellow card.

It was purely the 2nd shirt pull that triggered the chain of events as they happened.

Could he not just play the advantage and let the goal stand?
He did look to play advantage. But as such, ball was still in play, and he cannot ignore fouls thereafter. Otherwise it would give City players a free pass to commit fouls at will, at least fouls that are not violent conduct.

So, as soon as Haaland made the foul, the decsion had to be there was ultimately no advantage, so bring play back to the original foul.

EDIT: Just read the response that followed yours (after my reply), which sums it up.

I only saw it briefly, but it looked he would have played advantage for the foul on Haaland, if Haaland had not then fouled Szobaszlai in return, which potentially prevented him clearing the ball off the line. So then had to bring it back to the original foul on Haaland.

Everything was done in accordance with the rules and then the commentators and media get involved and it turned into a circus. The commentators want clear rules, but when they are applied they get their knickers in a twist and start going on about the spirit of the game.

So now we have all calmed down a bit. Re the disallowed goal, yup I think we can all agree the rules were followed.
Now hypothetically, if the goal was allowed to stand what rules would have to change for that to a goal. personally I have not got a clue. And how often would we see a situation like that again. Has there ever been anything similar to that before.🤔

Basically you would need to change every rule that says the attacker can foul the defender when trying to score.

When we was on Holiday in Cape Verde last year, I was talking to a big bearded guy who is well into his 60’s. He is a mad York fan. He reckoned York would do well this season. As a Rochdale lad I hope York come second.
I watched Rochdale v Carlise. Rochdale are following Citys pass pass pass without the skills to actually do anything. Lord knows how they scored. I'd switched it off midway into forst half and watched York. Much better. I'd back York v Rochdale. Interesting season in the National league.

There is something lovely about Haaland. His demeanor is always so joyful. A little less so when he's not scoring goals but when seen on the bench and in life he seems to relish life.

Is there any news on Salah's double dislocated shoulder?

;) ;) ;)

Well let’s be honest the second one was a clear pull back on the player

First one he needs to get on with it even if it was a slight pull back

It was happening a lot yesterday with players pulling shirts and grabbing people back - reckon that’s where most of the yellows came from
