The Madrid strop really is very embarrassing, childish, pathetic. It says a great deal about them as a club.
This bit made me chuckle.

Real midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni posted a photo of himself with team-mate Vinicius and wrote: "Nothing will take away what you’ve achieved my brother. We ALL know… They are not ready for what you’re gonna deliver."

And there you have it, what he is going to deliver. That’s in the future. Not last season. That’s why he didn’t get it. Did City Chuck a wobbly last season when Haaland didn’t get it and Messi did.
One thing did make me think, I wonder what the Spanish international players at Real Madrid thought when they supported Vinicius and not Rodri by not turning up.

Huge own goal by Real Madrid there.

I wonder how Vinicius Junior feels about it? Did he sulk when he heard he wasn't going to win, and Real Madrid felt this was how to support him.

Or was the boycott instigated by Real Madrid, and Vinicius a bit embarrassed about it.

For years they have Ronaldo picking up the trophy even if they won nothing , they made the award a joke and people started to just not bother with it

Vinicius has had a great season - won the league and CL - and played a part in that

Rodri has also had a great season winning the league and Euros

It’s great that a key player in a role that sometimes doesn’t get the highlights has finally been given the plaudits

Rodri is a player who would get into every single team in football - even if he plays for a rival you can only appreciate what he has achieved

Madrid and co would have been given a lot of kudos to turn up and congratulate the winners instead they continue to show their arrogance in the sport

I started doing some digging after I’d added that post - it would certainly be a progressive appointment if United went for him.

It’s the first appointment that has made me think that we will see United consistently up there if he gets it right

Very highly regarded

It’s going to take a bit of time and some personal changes in the team but he is a very good astute manager

Obviously coming into the Prem is never easy for any manager - if he was moving into a settle team then it wouldn’t be too much of an issue

But it’s a team down in the dumps at the moment

When Klopp took over we were in tenth and not going upwards - took a good 18 months to get back into CL and then build from there - that’s the sort of trajectory he will look at

It’s a far better appointment than the likes of Xavi , Potter , Southgate etc

He does model himself on Mourinho though 😁

One of the things I read was: "Amorim has consistently emphasized that he refrains from engaging in discussions about referees with the media"

Not sure he completely models himself on Mourinho then :D

That's the second time Real Madrid have gone missing this week.

🤣

I’m surprised considerably more isn’t being made of this. The arrogance of Real Madrid is breathtaking.

They say they won’t attend if the authorities don’t respect them, and yet show zero respect for those who have actually won awards, their clubs, and their leagues.

The club are an absolute disgrace. It’s no surprise to see Jude Bellingham change from a really likeable young man into an arrogant pillock given where he now plays his football.

I'd love to know the timeline of all this. I first heard Real Madrid were boycotting the event late yesterday afternoon, so not sure if they actually made that decision sometime yesterday after finding out Rodri was going to win.

So, had players already got their dinner suits ready, packed, even got to airport and boarded their flight to Paris. At which point, someone at Real Madrid said "stop guys, turn around and go home". Did Junior get into a major strop and say he refused to go, at which point someone above made the decision that the club should follow his lead, as it might look worse (immediate reaction anyway) if everyone from Real Madrid were there but Junior wasn't, and have to field some awkward questions? Or, was the decision actually made earlier, and no one had to bother getting ready to go?

I can't imagine all the Real Madrid players were comfortable with the decision, but when someone above makes that call, I guess you just have to toe the line. Can't see any Real Madrid players publicly coming out and saying what we are saying, not now at least. Perhaps they might after they've left the club in the future.

Heard a fella on Radio 5 this morning talking about the potential new Man Utd manager. Plays 3 at the back with a very attacking style which can leave the team open to counter attacks. Very regimental as well, does not change the system for love nor money. His final take was it may work in Portugal but maybe not so much against better opponents in the PL.
Sure be interesting though.

It’s very much worked in Portugal but he made a subtle change when he got the guy from Coventry - who is a goal machine , he also had to tweak a few things when Urgate left

There are a lot of good articles out there and read a load when we were looking at him alongside Slot - and the reason we didn’t take it much further was because of that rigid system that wouldn’t have fitted well with the players we had
