Around about 14th now and going backwards , have gone backwards in each of ETH seasons with no idea on what style the team has played

You have tried established trophy winners and it’s not worked, tried the old boy returning and not worked and tried the up and coming manager from abroad and it’s not worked

So maybe a Southgate or a Potter to steady and build a stronger foundation is needed

The team is miles away from being a top 6 team , maybe it needs a different approach

What sort of manager do you see the club attracting right now

Maybe it’s time to take a step back to see that United right now isn’t the club it once was and may struggle to attract any big name manager and the likes of Southgate is the area you can shop in
I have to assume you are being serious here, rather than trolling when it comes to talk about United?

But, I've personally never heard so much nonsense.

You continually flagged ETH last season for finishing 8th, now tell us United need a manager than can finish around mid table (say, 7th -14th). If he is that bad with that group of players, presumable you felt another manager could do a lot better. Clearly not.

Of course, when Liverpool were garbage through the 90's and 00's, undoubtedly they were looking for a manager that could solidify them around 4th or 5th? No way were they ambitious enough to look for a manager that might actually lead them up the table.

Of course, ETH had 2 seasons, 3rd and 8th. He has never finished 14th.

Think lying in a darkened room for a bit sounds like a good idea.

My thoughts, and I’ll be brief because it’s largely been said. The sacking was inevitable. I have largely been on the camp supporting ten Hag, primarily because United cannot go down the route of employing manager, sacking manager, rinse and repeat.

But, having been given a contract extension and millions more for players in the summer, there can be no further excuses. The Spurs performance was a debacle, against a side who themselves have struggled away from home this season. But I genuinely believe that ten Hag’s baffling treatment of Ugarte must have played a significant part in the INEOS decision. You cannot justify spending £50m on your primary summer target, continue to watch your side struggle, and yet leave that signing warming the bench. It’s mind boggling, and it typifies the increasingly muddled thinking.

So, the time had come for the axe to fall and I have no complaints. As for who comes in next? Absolutely no idea. I don’t know a great deal about Amorim, although he seems highly regarded. As for the other names being mentioned, I’m as underwhelmed now as I was in the summer.

From what I’ve read ETH never wanted Ugarte, he was a board purchase rather than one he specified. No idea how true that is but does go some way to explain his treatment of the player.

Hmmm. Not sure about that. I would be absolutely staggered if a new regime was put in place and during their first transfer window they start spending millions on players the manager doesn’t want.

Just looking at Sporting's squad of players on Wiki. If we get Amorim, I expect we'll be buying half their players? :D
City have just signed sporting Lisbons Hugo Viana as there new Sporting director to replace Tixi. They are massive shoes to fill. Strong rumours are that City are very very interested in Signing Ruben Amorim should Pep decide to leave. If Utd get in before City fair play to them. If he decides he is not going to Utd, it could mean he is coming to Manchester at the end of the season. 😳

Saw a really good piece about Viana the other day. It also talked about the Sporting coach as well and what a good team they made. It does look as though as the groundwork is being laid for life beyond Pep

absolutely yes....they took previous fines and offences into consideration...

Chelsea...

The Regulatory Commission considered previous sanctions imposed on Chelsea FC with regard to breaches of Rule E20 which are detailed as follows:
(1) The club was fined £22,500.00 for an incident that occurred in a Premier League fixture v Leicester City FC on 18 May 2021;
(2) The club was also fined £25,000.00 for an incident that occurred in a Premier League fixture v Liverpool FC on 28 August 2021.

Forest...
(1) The club was fined £10,000.00 for an incident that occurred in an EFL Championship fixture v Derby County FC on 22 January 2022;
(2) The club was fined £25,000.00 for an incident that occurred in a Premier League fixture v Crystal Palace FC on 12 November 2022;
(3) The club was fined £40,000.00 for an incident that occurred in an EFL Cup fixture v Wolverhampton Wanderers FC on 11 January 2023;
(4) The club was fined £55,000.00 for an incident that occurred in a Premier League fixture v Wolverhampton Wanderers on 1 April 2023; and
(5) The club was fined £75,000.00 for an incident that occurred in a Premier League fixture v Liverpool FC on 2 March 2024.

Seems that Forest struggle to learn their lessons and if you read the FA Report at the bottom of the article, sections 30 onwards, it is very obvious why the FA feel that forest deserve a bigger fine.

Initial foul by Williams wasn’t that bad and wouldn’t have happened if the ref had blown up for the foul by Cucurella on Elanga that happened beforehand. Colwill and Chelsea bench started the melee by immediately going after Williams. Forest players step in to protect Williams.

Jackson comes off the bench to slap Morato - no Forest players reacted to that and Jackson hasn’t been punished.

But yeah, the FA goes back three years to find other incidents which happened with a different set of players and a different coaching staff and somehow concludes that Forest deserve a fine over three times larger than that given to Chelsea and consider that proportionate to what happened at Stamford Bridge that day.

Well done, men in grey suits. You’re still convincing plenty of people that you know what you’re doing. 👏👏👏👏

Amorin was the coach I was hoping would come to Liverpool after Xabi decided to stay

Understand there were some talks that went on but seems playing style wasn’t suited ( prefers 3 at the back ) , then there was the West Ham non visit and wages demands

But he has Sporting playing very well and over the 4 years some very good players have moved on

He got Sporting to win their first title in 20 years I think and did so without bringing any players in

Has the potential to be a very clever appointment- going to be a significantly different way of playing, Urgate was with him before PSG

Loves a high press with three very mobile forwards

This is a good read

The Jackson incident is wrong and he should be charged and punished

But Forest have been fined 3 times over the last 2 years by the Prem plus once more by the football league including one just 6 months ago

It was 3 years ago the last incident for Chelsea

I started doing some digging after I’d added that post - it would certainly be a progressive appointment if United went for him.
