Tbf Gumaires took the move to Newcastle when they were relation fodder. Obviously all players say the right things at the right time, but recently he has said the the PL was his target (which is unusual for South Americans).

I'd like him to stay, if UTD are to start throwing some cash around. But they need to capitalise on their current situation as they appear ahead of where they should be considering the relatively modest investment so far.

Totally agree!

They look like they'll finish top 7 at worst this season - couple that finish strong investment and they really could push on. Part of me doubts if their current crop of players is good enough/ deep enough on a European stage, but I reckon they'd do a job in the Conference on most teams - a bit like West Ham but maybe better?

They will need about 5 more players though, for quality in depth more than anything!

I guess the problem would be where the GPS chip is located. A chip in the back of the shirt could say a player is onside when his legs or feet are actually offside.
That could be the answer though!
use the GPS tracker as a reference point so all players must wear them.
if your tracker is ahead of the defenders your offside.
would stop some of the stupid toenail decisions.

A good point. I always mention that I am not a devout football fan so people should take my comments with a pinch of salt but would fans be happy if the offside rule was amended to remove these marginal decisions. Surely the answer is that there needs to be a clear gap between the player and the last defender to trigger offside. No clear gap, onside, clear gap, offside.

Yes used to be like that if you were level your onside.
clear daylight your off.
The good old days.
just another example that complicated tech is not always better.

This does confuse me in that a rule that causes so much controversy could so easily become one that is accurate and easy to interpret. There is no need to assess intent or any other subjective issue, it just becomes a question of is thare a gap. Surely that has to improve the game whilst also provding a bit more in the way of goalscoring opporunities.

He has been superb for Liverpool but he is no longer a regular. You can understand him wanting to move on.

Absolutely! Not throwing toys out the pram or souring the dressing room, made his statement and will move on. Classy way to go and I'm sure the Liverpool fans will cheer him on for years to come.

Was a great player to watch, never a top scorer but his link up play for 2/3 seasons was remarkably good and both Salah and Mane wouldn't have achieve their impressive numbers without him.

This GPS talk. Were you not all paying attention in the World Cup when they started using the new skeletal tracking VAR for semi automatic and instantaneous offside? That’s what’s coming soon.

GPS is not the answer alone, it’s not accurate enough for offside, especially inside football stadiums where satellite line of sight isn’t guaranteed amongst other problems.

Been such a key player for us during the last 5 years when winning everything - far too many judged him on the amount of goals he scored but his impact with the team was a lot more than that and he was the glue in that front three - will be sad to see him go but it’s not surprising. He will prob end up in Italy at Juve
Did they really tho??
This is like when people said Son was underrated (when he was good) everyone actually rated him.
