The all things EV chat thread

I wasn’t expecting it so when a letter from the DVLA arrived I was fearing something different. I didn’t think I was speeding or running a red light, but you never really know.

When you do something naughty like that, the letter comes from the constabulary, not the DVLA 😮‍💨

If you are on Octopus I am intrigued about what tariff you are on.

I thought all tariffs included the 11.30-5.30 cheap rate.

Personally my bedroom is too close to the washing machine etc to want to have it on during the middle of the night.
They told me that they have an 8.5p tariff that, (I think), starts at 12.30. I'm due to catch up with them this week so I'll post up anything different they offer

Hybrid question for owners:

Recently bought a 24 plate Kia Niro hybrid (self charging) and very pleased with it. However, I have noticed that, when in full EV mode, the temperature inside the car seems to go down a little. Not changed the settings or anything. It only lasts about 15-30 seconds but is definitely noticeable. Is this normal?

You can check before hand here

It has questionare about your vehicle etc to see if you are eligible

Picked up the Kia PV5 Cargo Plus long range this afternoon. Currently in the process of sorting all my stuff out and organsing everything.
Initial thoughts, its very nice and even has laminated side windows...
The Plus means heated seats, steering wheel, rear load area power socket (3.1kw) folding mirrors and I think 1 or 2 other things.

What’s the range like now? Did you get any data? When you load it, how much weight do you usually carry along? Would be interesting to see the difference

I picked the Kia PV5 Cargo long range up last Wednesday afternoon. and spent the most of last week sorting the stuff out and laying out the back.
Today was it's first foray into town, and almost fully loaded.
I drove it the same as the VW T6, so whilst not silly I wasn't one of those EV drivers who takes 5 minute to get the vehicle rolling and up to 5 mph.
Today it's done 92 miles, and has 64% battery left, which is made up of an up the A2 into central London, around there and back out again and home via the M25 and A2.
That will do fine for me.
Initial thoughts and findings are very favourable, and it is probably more comfortable than the VW and overall I have no regrets (especially with what it needs doing very soon).

Fuel is going up massively imo with what’s going on in the Gulf.

I’m getting a VW ID3 soon .
Good timing I think.

I'm not going to be one of those going on about it, so this is the last add on.
I'm using about 35% of the battery each day doing 85-100 miles into Town and back out. The van is now pretty well loaded so definately not empty :)

As the whole load floor is low, having it's load in it now it does make it look as if it's been lowered.....but nothing from Halfords on view :)
