The all things EV chat thread

Thinking of getting one of these. Apparently it uses a small amount of electric to get it started and thereafter runs off the screams of Greta Thunberg... :D

Anybody ever owned one? Designed by a golfer, for golfers. 2 seats, room for 2 sets of golf bats, comfy and rapido (allegedly). Looks like it ticks all the boxes... ;-)

My mate collects classic cars (or at least classic to him) has a Lancia Delta Integrale, an Escort RS1800, Sierra Cosworth etc.

He got a TVR Griffith early last year and said it’s the most bonkers car he’s ever driven. Completely unhinged and unsafe. Sold it last month.

That's just strengthened my urge... :ROFLMAO:
I've had a couple of TVRs in the distant past. Fun cars, but absolutely NOT the most reliable. Looking at the list of new parts in that sale listing should give you an idea of how often things can go wrong. (But on the other hand, at least many of those replacement parts were reasonably priced. For example, try getting a pair of brake calipers for a BMW or Porsche for 77 quid!)

Reliability issues seem to relate mainly to the electrics from the information I've been given. No vehicle body to use as an earth and wiring pretty much thrown in when they were built. It seems it's worthwhile having the dash off and going through the wiring behind there and tidying it up.

Th BiB. No it doesn’t 🤣

Im with Octopus
Just got to decide whether I use their own or the Ohme

I am with Octopus and an Ohme charger, which was installed before I switched to them.
When you sign up to there vehicle charging , Intelligent Octopus Go , they take control of the charger and just charge when there is low demand e.g. I plugged in at 3pm yesterday and the car was charged by 11pm

I know there is a dedicated Face Book page for OHME users
May well be one for Octopus own chargers.

TBH, I was leaning towards one of those and looking at total costs, let Octopus install it.

I found this page which compares chargers including the Octopus offerings

Random one - it's common parlance now so won't change. But I thought the actual charger is in the car, an OBC.

The things now referred to as chargers are Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment - EVSE.

Guess that doesn't roll off the tongue though 😆

The very fast DC chargers, are chargers as they bypass the OBC.
