The all things EV chat thread

Again throughout history people have run out of fuel/battery in their car
I agree, normally in the middle of nowhere or miles from a garage.
This was in a multi story car park with 48 superchargers.
Anyway, this was done to death the last time this was discussed and I'm not going to bang my head against a brick wall again

It's a mile down the road from Westfield shopping centre car park. W12 7GB if you're interested
I know exactly where Westfield White Ciy/Shepherds Bush is and I know all about Kensington, I spend much of my working life in and around there.
Not all of Kensington has Tesla as a second run-about. A large section of Kensington couldn't afford to pay for a charging point to be install, let alone a car. Much like "Flushed Away"
You brought Kensington up, on a thread you have countless times said you were "done". :)

So that's 2 of us who know where the car park in question is.
The point I was making is it's a very expensive part of the world to live in.
And when I say I'm done it means I'm finished with the discussion/argument.
If I'm out, that means I'm out of the whole thread.

Some of it is, but not all of it.
North Kensington is a very poor part of London, but still comes under the banner of "Kensington".

I came in here to have look at reviews and points of view on EVs as thinking about one for Mrs M and her short journeys.

But what I’ve found is a bunch of men arguing about someone allowing their car to run out of charge which is not a new phenomenon as I know so many that ran out of fuel close to home and garages! Someone effectively saying Kensington is posh so they can charge EV easier. I’d argue they’ve never been to proper Kensington and seen what a hovel a lot of it is and you couldn’t get an EV charger outside the blocks of flats! The posh houses which make up a small part maybe but not most most it!

Someone saying Westfield’s is in Kensington which it’s certainly not and saying it’s only a mile away is hilarious that Mile can take ages to cover in London traffic and a bloke effectively arguing with himself about a diesel engine doing 250,000 miles which has naff all to do with EV’s

I’m not sure what’s more confusing what I’ve just trawled through and read or the fact I thought I might get some insight into a potential purchase for the Mrs 🤣😔

You've come across one person who has an EV, me, arguing with 5 or 6 EV haters regurgitating arguments that were debunked years ago.
I would suggest you do your own research and make your decision based on up to date facts.
As I've said many times... if EVs dont suit your needs, dont buy one.

Your cage has definitely been rattled by someone hasn’t it going by the pettiness of some replies 🤣

That was the point of me coming on here as part of doing my own research looking for opinions. What I came across handbags being thrown about because people pointed out an article isn’t necessarily true and I’m inclined to agree with them. Don’t worry I’ll continue my proper research and take all this faff with a pinch of salt!

The lad has a Hyundai Kona electric (they also have a Mazda CX5)
He says the Hyundai is nippy, but for comfort on long journeys prefers the CX5. For around town though, he says the Hyundai is fine.
Eldest daughter has a BMW iX, her husband a BMW i3. Before, she had an X5 and he an M3 and 5 series estate 4 ltr heavily modded. Both love the electric cars.
The wife has 2 work colleagues swapped back from EV to petrol hybrid.
That's all I can tell you. :)

My son and DIL have one each .
They work locally but do rack up miles working for the NHS.
They love them, but asked to borrow my ice car for their holidays.
With four kids they can’t be waiting around to charge mid journey.

I think there good if you don’t do long journeys or have an ice car as well.

The main problem I see is getting it fixed if there’s a problem
My sons broke down and was off the road for four months because there was no parts for it.
It was a new Renault.

As Bob says “ if they suit there great” but they don’t suit everyone.!
