The all things EV chat thread

Petey had a one series on PCP sometime in his life, so must be right.

Anyway, factually, I stated the operation would use battery power.

Yes, I exaggerated, but the smiley should have made that clear. Emoji and grammar lessons available upon polite request. Facts though, that's Petey.

As pointed out tho whilst it uses battery power it uses the same if not LESS battery power than when firing it up with the car as the system does it over a longer time.

IE if you want you car 18 degrees now and it's 25 degrees it will use more energy than if you pressed 15 mins ago and it has 15 mins to get to 18 degrees

It's simple science

Why you so against pcps? All you pay for is the depreciation of a car . If you lease you can actually save money buying the car off the lease company at the end of the deal as they want it off the books and deals can be had.

I mean we don't all have 2 lab putters

M5 comp, owned outright never leased a car. Might do if the salary sacrifice scheme gets off the ground at work and I can get an Audi

It's mad to not do salary sacrifice I mean I'm saving 35% off the cost of my lease doing that and it brings my taxable net down so I don't get a tax bill from HMRC again next year. Win win

Yeah I've been told it's coming. Hopefully soon

Took a while to launch, was meant to launch April this year, launched last Monday in the end

Little more costly than expected but still cheap deals to be had.

Takes care of that £600 luxury car tax nonsense aswell

4 Labs :ROFLMAO:

I was taking the Mickey, but seriously, let's not derail with a lesson on economics - each to their own. Your life, your car, your money and all that. Well, sometimes it's the taxman's 'loss', but that is what motivates much of the EV popularity.

And the M5 Comp didn't have the heating and ventilation feature, self park, air suspension etc. Well, mine didn't.

You’ve become rude to me recently.

Why you having dig after dig, especially when it wasn’t funny the first time around?

Pop me on ignore lad, if you’re so bothered I pointed out a diet only works if you’re not greedy :ROFLMAO:

It’s because you’re on the EV thread and posting something positive about an ICE car

All these “features” are quite amusing but it’s something else that can go wrong

4??? Jesus Christ do you have one for up hill putts one for left to right and so on???

Id like to see more traditional cars given the app treatment as it's one of the best features of newer cars

For years I was jealous of fords quick clear windscreen tech but since 2020 I haven't decided a windscreen due to the pre heat function doing the work for me

Indeed where as my current car does, the self park is a gimmick I think though, but an amusing trick to demo to unsuspecting passengers now and again.

The Kia has this feature where you can move it forwards and backwards via the key fob

Now that is a gimmick. I have used it once in anger when I couldn't do the daughter's car seat up as someone had parked too close so I moved the car out of the space , did it up and drove off

Other than that I've only used to show people look at this pointless feature lol 😆

The self park is fabulous. It recognises x (can't remember how many) locations and gets my car in millimetre perfect position at home and the office. I tend not to use it in general scenarios, as I have wheels with a different offset to factory, so kerb recognition is skewed (you can calibrate that though).

The useful part of that feature is when you do many moves to get into a space, the car remembers and can repeat that to exit.

These features and apps have moved on so much more these last few years, no doubt from the EV research and development, so not displeased with that.

We should be aware, most cars now come off the production line with all these features, but with many only enabled with a payment or subscription. In the US, there is remote start and in Europe, we have things they can't access, for local regulations, but likely can be coded to do so.

It's one reason full self driving won't take off over here (unless we mean take off a car over a bridge) because our roads can't handle it where as the USA roads are so large and blocks make so much sense straight roads and such. No roundabouts

Maybe one day I'll need it, but I find the 360 camera makes such a difference for manuvering.
Adaptive Cruse control and lane keep along with adaptive lighting are my favourite extras I'd say.

The Skoda will be the 4th car with ACC a god send on motorways. Set to 65 and just chill out let it control the space between me and the car in front

The Corsa didn't have it but it had a speed limiter which was useful for the average speed cameras nearby

I haven't had a 360 camera yet I can see the appeal. Don't think the Skoda will have it but if it does would be happy.

Amazing how much each advance in tech improves things

Remember the first car I had with sensors. Changed the game. Then camera was another one. Then camera with outline of the car that moved with the steering wheel

Best thing I've had in cars in general I find is the power tailgate , just love it for golf and even more the kids. Open the boot then pick up all their crap lol hands full, throw it in and shut it away

Ah you know you've made it in life when you have a powered boot 🤣🤣

Remote functions.

My irritation of the week is finding that whilst they were free for a period after buying the car Peugeot now wants them paid for via an app. The app is not exactly cheap and from the all the reviews from P owners is pretty unreliable rubbish anyway.

Yeah stelantis are rip off merchants. They make average cars and then rip you off for extra features. I will never own / lease one of their cars again.

Hyundai is £30 a year which whilst not free is a reasonable cost imo
