The all things EV chat thread

And here is an answer to that. He didn't switch it off, it switched itself of 17 frames before contact.

Basically, if the driver doesn't react within 17 frames then it is his own fault. But it really depends on the refresh rate to know what 17 frames means ;-)

On other news, MG has now replaced the MGZS EV a day after I talked about it with the MGS5 EV. All youtube channels are on it at the moment. I wonder if that brickbat gridserve or if they fixed it.

Id put money on they will have fixed it now. No company knows of an issue and doesn't fix going forward, yes they didn't fix existing cars but knowing of an issue then not fixing would be a silly practice as they would just get a load of warranty work

I saw a video on that new EV last night. Looks nice. Lots of car for the money

Only thing I'd say that the lady mentioned in the video about top range being same as entry for the EV 3... Is the EV 3 comes with a massive 81kwh battery as entry which is outstanding

@PJ87 After some advice please.
Having had my EV for 3 months and loving the savings by charging at home I will be going on my first long journey next week from Bradford to Heathrow. Already planned to stop on the way down at either Toddington or Newport Pagnell to rest and charge. I have never charged away from home and having done some research have discovered the Gridserve app. Is this the best way to pay for the charging rather than tap and go?

Electroverse app is decent option, give you access to many chargers.

Sometimes you get cheaper deals on the app. Gridserve over Xmas had 20% for example

I use the electroverse app to start most of my away charging and have tapped elsewhere

Just make sure the chargers you plan to use you have their app before using just incase

Thanks, I will have a look at the electroverse app. I have checked on the Gridserve app and all the services I may stop at have their chargers so that shouldnt be an issue

Also worth noting if this is your first experience of long distance continuous motorway driving at potentially a much higher speed than normal expect the range to be considerably reduced before needing to charge. My own experience was that it could be as much as halved but my route to my sons also has a lot of hills on the A303.

I have done blackpool and back in a day which is about a 160 mile round trip and still had approx 30% battery left so it wont be my first experience of a long journey, just my first experience of charging away from home
