More and more clubs are offering something for those who have to drive, especially in Scotland where the drink drive limit has been reduced.

Best Alcohol free beer I have come across is Bitburger Drive. I have seen it in a few golf clubs and bars, really hard to get in the supermarket, but Majestic and some independent off licenses do it.

Year or so back I had an excellent pint of Bitburger draft in The Burnbrae in Bearsden (might have been the 'drive' you refer to). My golf club stocks bottled zero alcohol Bitburger - which is fine.

Haven't drank for over 5 years.

Don't mind being designated driver and neither do my friends. Even being a rugby player never had an issues with it

I would love to see more promotion of alcohol free drinks in golf clubs. Cannot be the only one who notices a busy clubhouse, drinks following, even the odd bottle of red wine being sunk but, surprisingly, never any cars left in the car park when I drive past later in the day.
A well known member at our club got pulled for drink driving home from the club 2 days in a row. Obviously someone had it in for him and reported him.

Not tee-total. Will drink but very very rarely. Just don't like the taste beer/larger/spirits. Bout the only thing I'll drink is cider.

Teetotal for 3 weeks I work, my time off I do drink but not massively, can't remember last time I was hammered, getting to old for hangovers. Saying that I can do a bottle of wine with no ill effects the next morning. Contemplating teetotal till Xmas though to shed a few pounds.

I was teetotal for about five years and it made me aware just how unfunny and boorish some of my mates could be. Also gave up darts as I just didn't enjoy it without a drink. I do drink now but nowhere near what I did and find if I do go mad, the day after is much harder these days.

I do think golf clubs should push the non-alcoholic drinks. I can see, although don't condone why a pub may not want to push these but there's a real need for these to available and I'm surprised the government and health authorities haven't jumped on these as a viable alternative

I once ventured into alcohol free drinks. Found a few great online stores stocking hundreds of alcohol free beers, wines etc. Never knew there were so many choices. Worth a look if interested. In general I found the wine was poor in comparison. I read that taking the alcohol out of wine affected it greatly. The opposite was true for beer. I found the taste of many very very good and hardly noticed any difference.

Recently found a perfectly acceptable alcohol-free red wine in my local Waitrose recently - better than the alcohol-free whites I have tried.

Quit drinking close to 8 years ago now, it was never intended, just wanted to drop a few lbs as i played a lot of football back then, thought lets try a month. Figured lets try another, after 2 months, i had witnessed enough drunk people to think, lets go a bit longer, combined with health benefits etc it became permanent, have no intention of ever drinking, or smoking for that matter again.

Socialising is not an issue, I am a cheap date, soda and lime and you get to drive v wait on a taxi which is always nice.

Personally quitting changed my desire to put myself in social situations where people were pissed, not a problem from time to time, but regularly hitting pubs etc 3 or 4 hours in, I always found i was looking for an exit as drunk people are funny to each other but sitting in a bar with the fooball guys who are all 8 pints in and having someone repeat BUT THIS IS REALLY REALLY important FOR THE 5TH time gets old.

My living is dependent on my short term memory having total recall to do my job. Sometimes having to memorize over 100 names and stats per day so any day I am working or the night before I leave the alcohol alone.

On a day off may have a scotch or a beer after a round of golf but that is it.

Could be Mark Roe in disguise, learns 100 boring things a day?
