You got to try harder than that.......Honestly have not read it at all but I'm taking a guess that a certain Adrian Zenz's name has been mentioned or attached to this piece? :censored:

Seriously might be time to put the shovel down, stop digging and do a bit more research.

By the token of your post if labour got in within 20 years well be a dictatorship or communist country. Nazi party were not socialist no matter how many times you say it. Doesn't even matter who they evolved from they were not socialist, they were far right.

Khmer Rouge again not socialist but communist, DRP not socialist but communist either you can't differentiate between the 2 or you believe anyone wanting socialism wants to inevitably become communist.
I think you need to read what I actually post as opposed to what you want it to be.
A Socialist State is one where the means of Production, distribution and financial control are state owned. You say those countries are Communist but none of then define themselves as such, they call themselves Social Republics.
Regarding National Socialists, again, they started as workers party and no matter how many times you deny it that was a socialist movement in its infancy, it had a policy where production, distribution and finance was state controlled, far right is the complete opposite to this, it wants the market to be free of state intervention. I dont support anything they did but they were anything but a haven for free enterprise.

Anyhow, I started this thread and I should have known it would end up with the normal suspects using insults instead of discussion. I'm out now as its beyond any sensible debate unfortunatly.

The thread had zero chance of debate as you were involved.

Considering the NHS is one of the finest things about this country and is respected the world over one could easily make the case for the fact that socialism is one of the greatest things to have ever happened to this country.
You've confused 'an early Labour government' with 'socialism'! They simply weren't within Cooee of each other!

They started off being The National Socialist Workers Party and mutated into what they became. The point being that it's a trend with what starts off as a Socialist State.
Utter Twaddle!
The fact that they had the word 'Socialist' (or even 'Worker'!) in their name was nothing but a disguise for their Fascism - in itself, a corruption of fasces (togetherness - of sticks)

None of the 'examples' above define Socialism!
Lose your narrow-minded systemic envy of 'wealth producers'!

They absolutely do. They certainly don't define capitalism.

I'm not at all envious of wealth producers and am happy to be one and do my bit for business growth and the economy. But there's a clear set of taxation rules and people should adhere to them and not assume tax is 'optional'.

Most of that applies to Low Earners also!
And no doubt they DO pay Road Tax for all their vehicles' use of the roads.
And they, arguably, pay 'more than their fair share' of tax/NI so that their (income earning, tax paying) staff CAN travel to work (however they prefer, including Public Transport) and be treated for illnesses etc in exactly same fashion by NHS as they are!
It's small and medium businesses that are the backbone of UK's wealth!

Obviously we are not going to change each others minds, but suffice to say there are plenty of well off and less well off people that don't pay their proper rate of tax and evade tax through things as simple as not putting cash through their books, to having their spouse or children as company directors and paying them salary or dividends to avoid paying a higher rate of tax on it themselves, to more elaborate schemes such as expatriating profits to tax havens overseas but keeping liabilities and costs on shore.

Many of these schemes and practices fall into the 'illegal but difficult to prove' or 'challengeable at best' category.
