We have had a message sent out at my club saying general play scores will now be suspended over the winter with immediate effect, I have queried this as I can see no reason why cards cannot be acceptable.
While it is true that later in the winter, we will probably at some times have to use temp greens with bucket holes and some holes will probably be shortened thus making scores non acceptable can a club make a blanket decision to cover all winter?

Agree that it doesn’t seem right , we assess the course every single day but to just blanket it seems wrong unless they plan for the course to be Non Q all winter

Score submission should only be suspended in specific circumstances, including: the course being in exceptionally poor condition that cannot be mitigated by implementing authorised local rules (e.g. preferred lies in areas cut to fairway height or less, clean and replace in the general area, fairway mats, etc.); play not over a measured and rated course; unauthorised local rules in effect (e.g. preferred lies in the general area); more than 2 temporary greens; bucket holes; etc.
Any local rules to mitigate exceptionally poor conditions must only be in effect while necessary, and removed as soon as not required.
Your county will be able to advise your club accordingly.
See EG guidance for more.

A blanket ban seems strange.

You could disable GP rounds using the software if conditions don't allow.

I can understand in a not-sub-tropical climate.
