I am not sure having a fixed swing really matters. It is very very difficult to actually increase your club head speed, so if you find a shaft that suits your swing, it is unlikely to change. Ditto for shaft length, unless you have an un-naturally hunched stance, which the fitter should point out.

For loft and lie, these can be adjusted any time, for not much money, so if you need them changed, so what?

Krok, it's not something you'll regret. You learn alot in the short space of time you are there. Its great to compare the trajecory, disperesion, carry, roll etc of your own clubs against all the potential new clubs. I had a really good laugh with the guy too and you kind of get the feeling of what it must be like to be a pro for a couple of hours.

Great post Tony really enjoyed reading it.

I disagree with the comment about our swings being different every time as whilst i agree that 'no two swings are the same' surely they are not going to differ that much.

However my swing is changing all the time at the moment trying to irradicate a bad slice, so whilst i would love to go to one of these custom fitting centres, at the moment its not a good idea.

Is this where you went Tony? http://golf.mizunoeurope.com/news/workshop-qa.php

Glad you had a good time and experience at the fitting centre. I must warn you though, that if you go ahead and order those lovely new 52s, you'll probably never play another brand again!

There's just something about a Mizuno !

You know what, I felt this when I was there, I was in the Callaway camp firmly untill the pro told me a few things.

1) and this made real good sense was. Callaway stick a uniflex shaft in there irons and say everyone can hit it, but The pro said, they expect you(me) an 18 handicapper to hit the same shaft as me(him) a pro. You (me) swing at 75mph and me(him) at 96.

2) the amount it costs mizuno to forge there clubs is a hell of alot more than callaways cast and they really should be knocking them out at double what they do, but to stay competitive they dont.

3) they are so confident of there own gear, they dont need to charge people to come try it or get fitted for it. The gear sells its self. and It really does.

Just the two clubs Lewis? if so, good going.

yes tony i opted to do the seve challenge but with a 6 instead of a 3 iron it was a demo club at centregolf they let me borrow it..at the time they were 600pound a set and i paid only 360 for my titlesits so thats why i go tthem instead...though i would love to get a set of mizzys again.. they were my first ever set! Mizuno Widecs! bought them for 70 pound and sold them for 15 pound and 2 brand new xbox 360 games!

I have a great 9 holer by me that would be great for a 5 club challenge, Although I always take my full set to try beat my record of level par, no good though, best effort since was about 3 over. Maybe some new mizzies would help! :D

My point exactly PPE. If your swing is changing then you're not going to get the benefit of a fitting. If you've got a grooved swing like TonyN then you can only benefit but I think most of the higher handicappers on here don't have a swing that's repeatable enough to warrant a fitting.
