Noticed the taylor made brnr mini driver today and it got me thinking about the old burner woods from years ago, I had a 3 wood with a bubble shaft and absolutely loved it. Anyone else got anything that springs to mind you loved from over the years?

Irons I always thought that Mizuno era, sort of Luke Donald number 1 were great, I remember the MP33 muscle backs were superb, they were a bit before Donald’s prime but they really had lovely irons for a long time.
I played blades for a while and remember ping S59 that I had for a few years and also a set of Cleveland ta1 that were beautiful.

Wedges, can’t really remember playing much else than vokeys for all these years, know Cleveland had a bit of a rep wedges wise for a while.

I had a ping Anser 2 putter many moons ago that I would give anything to have back, I think similar to what Woods used growing up and through his amateur days, simple blade shape but just such a great putter.
Also loved when Odyssey first brought out the white hot range with the soft insert face, felt really good. Two balls were a great putter.

I had a TM Burner driver with the bubble shaft, I don't miss it though.

I also had the Cleveland TA1, TA2 & TA3, all as you say lovely clubs, and I'd love another set but any you find are tatty, and they all have S300 fitted which is too much shaft these days.

A few years ago I bought a brand-new set of TA2, 2 - PW off a Pro who had found them in the back of his shop. I ruined them by fitting the wrong shafts, because they were cheaper. Major regret.

When it comes to putters it has to be the Yes Nicky, wonderful putter.

40 years back I had a Lynx Predator driver with an offset head. The leading edge was almost knife like. Great off the fairway too.

I still use an original 2 ball putter. I bought it when they first came out and was the first putter I used to have an under par round.

Still have two bubble shaft woods in my bag. They've been there for 25+ years. I bought some new paradym woods because the epoxy on the 21 degree taylormade raylor has given way and the head went flying last season. We'll see this season if something finally kicks the bubble shafts out permanently.

In university I had what must have been an early combo set of TA1 for the PW-9, TA3 8-6 and TA7 5-4. They were fit with project x 5.5 shafts. I really regret selling them. A few years ago I bought a set of TA3s on the cheap with nippon shafts.

They aren't the same...could be my game that's not the same...who's to say.

I still have my Ram Accubar's from years ago, and always wanted a set of Ram Golden Ram's.
I nearly bought a set of Mizuno Astron's at the time but the finish just didn't look good.

The clubs I still have which I used to use but still get an occasional outing

A Petron extra weight 51 wedge , at one time it was the only wedge I carried for most courses. (It is actually a second one as I wore the first one out despite it being a cast club).

A Ram Tom Watson Troon grind 51 wedge which I took to links and similar courses.

Wilson Invex 7 wood

Slotline Inertia putter

TM 360 full set of irons with graphite shafts (still swinging too fast for graphite R flex shafts in my irons) originally bought when playing injured.

The oldest club I have is a Kel Nagle signature PGF of Australia SW wedge. Almost unused.

Black and gold weren't they?
I remember them very well.

My daughter plays a Petrol Impala 60 wedge in a bag. It certainly is a different animal to the modern day wedges:)

Today I played with,

2004 Cobra F Speed driver. ---------------------------(I have the matching 3-wood, but not in the bag today)
2006 Cobra Baffler hybrids 16° and 20°. -----------(I have the matching 23°, but ya-de-yada...)
1990s Powerbilt Oversize 2,3,4 irons ----------------(I have the 5-SW of these as well ...)
1984 Ping Eye2 BeCu 5-PW -------------------------- (PW is 50°, I have the SW, 3&4, but...)
1990s Cleveland 691 58° wedge
1980s Ben Sayers Opel Line One putter.

Hadn't hit a ball for 5 and a half weeks. I was 5 over after 8 holes, then 1 over for the next 10 holes with only one birdie on our shortest par 3 the 11th. PW to 2 feet.
Pretty chuffed with that.

Petron Impala? I have a set of those that are 1-10, PW, SW. The 10-iron is 50°, the PW is 55° and the SW is 60°. Just room in the bag for a driver and a putter!

I have a set of Golden Rams, plus the Tom Watson three wedges. Used the Golden Rams for years, loved them. They replaced a set of Golfcraft Continentals.

No. To give it the full model details TPX Tour Power Advanced pitching system XTRA weight.
The set came with 3 wedges as standard although one was was marked as a 10. They even did different lies as standard . It came from a time when Petron were very much in to custom fitting.

Petron Impala were very common in my day, they were my first set of clubs. Muscle back blades which was the common thing to buy back then.

When they first came out, I really wanted one of these. The concept seemed to be ideal to me, centre shafted, extreme weight at the periphery. Alas, I couldn't afford one.

Years later I bought a tatty one off eBay, unfortunately it turned out the ideal concept didn't work, not for me anyway. I gave it to a mate.

My apologies, the reference to bkack and gold was the Slot Line putters

For me it was one the best putters I owned.

What caused the change was breaking one at the hosel after my tee shot hit the head when the bag was left next to a tree way off line. I had 2 of them but with one I had drilled out a lot of the lead in the heel and toe to lighten it.
