Ryder Cup 2025 - All matters

I'm not fully disagreeing, but only thinking it obviously needs to be conditional than in the home tie, we clearly see that cohesion and team spirit.

I didn't think Luke will become Captain for the next one, as all good things will come to an end eventually. Better to go out on a high, rather than overstaying your welcome. However, I think what also worked well is that he essentially had the same players for both Ryder Cups (and funnily enough, the only difference being swapping twin brothers). Question is, how many of those players could be in the side in 2 years? If they feel the majority of them will still make the team in 2 years, perhaps keeping Donald on becomes more appealing, and maybe it is more tempting for Luke?
Two years is a long time I guess, but you'd expect McIlroy, Fleetwood, Hatton, Rahm, Aberg, and Hovland to be involved again I should think, so that's half a team. Possibly Fitzpatrick too. Rose will surely decline eventually. 😂

BDC is a very good golfer but he is different and prob very much a marmite character - there aren’t many that have been seen in the game

He can hit a big ball and has a great touch

But at times his putting lets him down as we saw at the weekend

His mentality is the same as Woods though and he is very much single minded

It wouldn’t surprise at some point after his LIV contract goes that he takes a break from playing tour golf

I watched his YouTube channel and thought he was ok, but after the Ryder Cup, I unsubscribed - not a nice fella.

I had a look at the Rose/caddy thing but cant really hear what’s going on. This is my own take :

Caddy made a bit of an etiquette faux pas stepping in at wrong time, Rose, a tad bluntly, puts him in his place, Bryson says something like "don’t talk to my caddy like that, if you have issue with him then talk to me" and then follows back/forth about keep your caddy under control then blah blah blah

Exactly what happens when one partner in a couple makes an error and a 3rd person gives them a blunt telling off for it. The ‘husband/bf’ gets involved to ‘defend’ them. You'll see it every weekend the world over

The issue for me is that after Rose did the putt etc he spoke to BDC caddy and it seemed like they all sorted it out and they were joking together- it then re escalated when BDC got heated and Scottie’s caddy pushed Molinari away

Yup, after the initial mess up things just escalated/expanded and ppl not even involved stick their oar in too, same as at many nights out

One of the poorer aspects of human nature,

Some people have said Rosey was a bit blunt/rude, and although in hindsight I get that, I think that in the heat of the situation it was fine.

Don’t forget, the Europeans had endured 2 days of fan abuse and so were in fight or flight mode. Plus, that caddy on the green with McIlroy in Rome last year and all the shenanigans that occurred as a result of that, it wouldn’t have been beyond the realms of possibility that there was some gamesmanship going on.

But as others have said, it was the afters from dechumpoo and Scott that went beyond the line.

Yeah I thought that too, maybe the caddy knew exactly what they were doing and any little niggle he could instigate to unsettle might help his player (& so fully deserving of Rose's wrath)

Imo a lot of that is to ensure they get followers - plenty of times with have seen the mask slip a little but that’s the same with many , someone will always be nice in you tube videos etc

Yeah and for him and Scottie to skip media after that was exceptionally poor

Almost like it hadn’t been put to bed tbh

Rose admitted in interview that he could have been more diplomatic.

Yeah, I imagine he uttered "can you get out of the *** way" or words to that effect. But the fact remains, the caddie didn't really start any confrontation with him, if anything he looked quite apologetic and looked like he was going to cry after all the slanging match had settled down on the next tee. Scottie also wasn't getting involved, the whole flare-up was from Bryson and Ted Scott.

The caddie behaved unprofessionally moving around when Rose was assessing his putt. I don’t doubt it was an accident, or at least I hope it was, and Rose made it clear he could have handled it better, recognising he said too much. The rest was just a storm in a tea cup. The afters was pathetic.

Yeah, I half expected them to start nuzzling each other and then drop to the floor like footballers. 😂

He might have said that, but I would have thought it more likely there was no swearing in his comment, just a strong assertive tone to his voice. He probably also gave him a glare, that spooked the caddie, in that it was defintiely not a friendly request to move. Testosterone fueled Bryson probably just had his emotions run away from him. Sometimes it only takes a sly look at someone to make people like that emotionally unstable. Bryson definitely gets pumped up during the Ryder Cup, so it is probably hard to be the guy to calm things down when there is any sort of needle, but instead more likely be the guy to add fuel to the fire.

Lots of folk these days, throughout society, have an over-inflated sense of the own self-importance - and as a consequence feel that they deserve ‘respect’ at all times…that any even minor ‘slight’ or ‘criticism’ is considered an affront and disrespectful. It is all, or mostly, a load of inflated rubbish. They need to have their self-important balloons punctured in no uncertain terms.

As usual in such matters Burns has it bang on.

Ye see yon birkie ca'd a lord,
Wha struts and stares and a' that;
Tho' hundreds worship at his word,
He's but a coof for a' that:
For a' that, and a' that,
His ribband, star, and a' that,
The man o' independent mind,
He looks and laughs at a' that.

Attempt at damage limitation from the CEO
Doing a lot of back peddling

Think next season we see Rory play the very bare minimum on the PGAT whilst playing more Opens around the European Tour
